B35 via Church Posted December 29, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2017 Can't say I'm surprised at all w/ the Q17 change.... So the fat trimming begins. Q15/a I've been noticing increases on over time, but the Q28 been a silent assassin.... Easily the most reliable of the Flushing - NE Queens feeders.... Well worth the increases (no matter how slight). Lol @ still trying to fine tune those QCC Q30's....
NY1635 Posted December 29, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 29, 2017 I didn't know that the Q17 and Q88 had trips to Horace Harding and Kissena Blvd. I guess people were passing them up because they don't go all the way to Fresh Meadows, where a lot the 17 and 88 riders were coming from. I'm not surprised by the Q2 getting service reductions during the morning. The 110 always gets the people bound for Jamaica first while the 2 is just sitting at Belmont Park. By the time it goes into service, it carries air until Hollis Ave.
bobtehpanda Posted December 29, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 29, 2017 It used to be the case that people would slam the 17s as an alternative to the Q25 for Kissena trips within Main St-HHE (and to a lesser extent, the Q27). Now that both of those routes are overloaded I suspect most people just hoof it to where they're going. They really should beef up Q25/34 service, though. S78 via Hylan Posted December 29, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 29, 2017 It’s possible that the Q5 service change could be a typo and that the 5:59 might be missing. I say this because it’s weird that service from Jamaica goes: 5:02, :17, :32, :47, and then 6:11.

People still slam the 17 as an alternative to the 25 because they think the 17 will get them to Flushing faster, or further down Kissena than the 25 once the traffic sets in. Neither did I. I just assumed they had the trips from 188th & HHE. I would assume those trips were designed for schoolkids or something, and they put them on the tripper schedule or something. The MTA decided to end those HHE/Kissena trips because while those going to Flushing are gunning for the 17, there's a long line of people at Main between Roosevelt Avenue and 39th Avenue for that same 17 to Fresh Meadows and Hillside Ave.

Q17 school-day-only northbound trippers from Francis Lewis High School (operated by CS Depot). Q88 school-day-only eastbound trippers in the morning from the Mall to HH/Utopia or HH/F. More people are gravitating towards the Q19 though, which AFAIC is a good thing...... If a Q19 pulls up before a Q66, you'll find more people on the line stepping to the side to let those that want the Q19 board, compared to the opposite situation (if a Q66 pulls up first, there'll be less people still on the line after that Q66 leaves).... ViaWaterViaChurch Posted January 8, 2018 Share #24 Posted January 8, 2018 So glad to see more service added on the QM25 even though I no longer live in the area to take it. The first 3 buses were absolutely swamped in the mornings and on some days it was SRO while 6th avenue, and especially 3rd avenue service was running only a half full bus. Now if only the MTA could move some money around and add a Wall Street QM2/20 bus.
RestrictOnTheHanger Posted January 9, 2018 Share #25 Posted January 9, 2018 The first day of the QM11 schedule change went ok. The new 745 combined run had nearly a full load and the drivers were all on time. Better than the previous drivers leaving late and bunching. Though if a run is missed or late on a 15 minute headway, way worse than what happens on a 10 minute headway.
