Are all cars operational or aren't some also out of service for issues such as dead motors? The ones that are able to run could see service today with this R179 bomb-out though we'll see on that.

4794-95, 4838-39, 4802-03, *4788-89: ENY to Pitkin. spotted it heading there from the (A)(C) platform at Fulton.

4812-13, 48xx-xx, along with two other R42 pairs (couldn't tell which #s): ENY to Fresh Pond. (also spotted that set as well)

in addition, a third R42 set was also spotted on the (N) line deadheading to CI according to a post on FB.

*for those curious even though it was allegedly reported 4788-89 was OOS it did a morning rush hour trip on the (Z) skip stop today.

Figured this would be the most relevant thread to ask this, so...

When the overhauled Redbird R27/30s ran on the BMT Eastern Division (roughly 1987 to 1990), were any of those trainsets regularly assigned to the (L)? Browsed through SubChat and historical car assignment sheets, but couldn't find anything significant.  Seems odd, especially considering they were well-documented on the  (J)(brownM)(Z).

On a side note, I never understood the TA's rationale for assigning the vast majority of R42s to the Eastern Division after GOH, considering the issues with door controls and uneven (5+3) C/R board placements.  In that sense, the R32s would've been a better fit.
