kawasaki3 0 Posted October 9, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2008 so when will there be subway swamp. when will 6 line going to give away Rail142A #7211 - #7410, and exchange for Rail142A #7671 - #7810 , or Rail142 #7061 - #7180 , #1101 - #1250. I believe that in 2016 - 2022? when Rail188 get delievered. the line that might need Rail188 is: 2 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 line and 2 , 4 , 5 , 6 line going to give away the Rail142 , rail142A to 1 , 3 , 7 line you will consider that Rail142's had run 2 , 4, 5 , 6 line since 18 years(6)
trainfan22 2,233 Posted October 9, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 9, 2008 Your post is kinda puzzling..:confused::confused: Well i'll try to answer your question 1) We don't know when R188's will come 2)The and lines won't need R188's, their R142/A's would only be 18 to 20 years old around 2016-2022 3)Why should the and get hand me down R142/A's? Most likely whatever train that replaces the R62/A will go to the and lines.

MTA 2 MARTA 0 Posted October 9, 2008 Share #7 Posted October 9, 2008 The reason why the ,,, got R142 Because they Had the Oldest cars R26-R28 while the , had R62 & R62A. The Had a Mix of Both so they Killed 2 birds with 1 stone replaced the , Cars to give the new Cars untill the Next order Comes Around.

Far Rock Depot 1,291 Posted October 10, 2008 Share #12 Posted October 10, 2008 I thought the R in the contract numbers stood for Rapid. As in RTO. Not all car contracts are for Revenue cars like the R95, R127 and R134s. And the R188s are way down the road. Like after 2013. And they WILL be Flushing exclusives. Designed for 11 car service only available on the . Lets be a little realistic here. this is how wrong rumors start.

DOB2RTO 29 Posted October 10, 2008 Share #19 Posted October 10, 2008 To answer your question about the R188, it will be only for the line. There will be no swap, and they will be have CBTC technology (just like the R143 and R160/160A). The is next in line for CBTC, and that is why they will be going there. They aren't ordering anything additional for any other line(s). Besides the trains on the 7 have another 20-25 years to go, so TA will end up with a large surplus of A Div. trains, and will just send the Bomb R62As, elsewhere......... R62a #1909 was Derailed south of Hunts Point Avenue on Track M, 11/24/1996. 1909 was a total writeoff due to mid-carbody damage and scrap in 2001.
