The pairing between the A and B sets have been going on for quite some time now. Its first pairing was with 8833 - 8837, then 8813 - 8817, then 8729 - 8732. Dont know about the rest. Eric B 1,073 Posted October 14, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 14, 2008 It's true that those mixed sets are faster. I had heard this last week, and then yesterday someone brought one in on the , saying it seemed like it had no governor and when I took it back out, it was notably faster. R32 3348 11 Posted October 14, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 14, 2008 Which operating end is faster to operate? Or is it both ends...?
Eric B 1,073 Posted October 15, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 15, 2008 Must be both, because the guy who brought it in had one end, and I had the other.

R32 3348 11 Posted October 15, 2008 Share #8 Posted October 15, 2008 Also, since I don't want to start another thread on this, and it's related to R160 deliveries (indirectly), why not: There was recently another transfer of R42 to Jamaica. This morning I rode car 4763 on the , which I think was the highest number in the set. The whole consist had trains of 475X and 476X so it was probably fresh from ENY. This transfer leaves ENY with 70 R42s, and they only need 40 cars (maybe 48 for spares) for service.
