Mtatransit Posted August 5, 2018 Share #5 Posted August 5, 2018 Whats so sad about that photo is that with the exception of s101, all the buses still goes to the same place. NYC's bus network really is stuck in time.

Interested Rider Posted August 6, 2018 Share #14 Posted August 6, 2018 A couple of points to add to the list that has been posted and a special thank you FLX9304 for posting it 5600 -5790 (not 5800) . 5700 -5790 were transferred to Staten Island between 1973 - 1975 from Flushing. The reason that I remember this is that when I was a student at Queens College in the early 1970's, the 5700's were running on the Flushing routes. When I started work on Staten Island in May 1975, the same numbers were running out of the Castleton garage. There were some 5600's that were transferred to the island as to replace the 5700's that were dying off as forget the maintenance of the buses, it did not exist. The 5600 and 5700 were not supposed to be allowed on the bridge as a right side mirror was required but I remember at least one bus (5753) doing a S/7 (S/53) PM trip from the college to Brooklyn where the mirror was missing and I was on board the bus. Another bit of trivia as 5728 was the only of the 5700's that was painted white on the outside. There was another Flushing to Castleton transfer at the same time of GM's 4456-4463. The GM's along with 4464 - 4483 would be transferred to Ulmer Park to end off their careers, . 4000 -4099. 4000- 4100 started off first at Fifth Avenue (now Gleason) 4095 - 4099 were transferred to Ulmer Park sometime around 1979 or a bit later. You’re welcome. I grew up with the 4000s, 7000s (w/wo) and 9000s. Inside them was omg interesting.
