Life Cycle Replacement of Speed Enforcement Systems MW53-1958System-wide The purpose of this project is to replace speed enforcement system with a new system providing enhanced reliability and maintainability. Five locations comprising a total of eleven (11) systems on four different lines with the new system. The locations and lines are: 1) East 117th Street Interlocking, Pelham Line 2) Hunters Point Interlocking, Pelham Line 3) Metro Tech (Lawrence) Interlocking, Broadway Line 4) Essex Street Interlocking, 6th Avenue Line and 5) Atlantic Avenue Interlocking, Eastern Parkway Line This project will install overspeed protection equipment. The new equipment will assure that the speed enforcement system is maintainable and reliable; the first generation system suffered frequent failures due to its inability to withstand the harsh environment of the subway, or vibration on the elevated structure due to train movement. The project shall also re-evaluate the system's back- up Grade Time (GT) signal design, and modify as required to ensure that a train operator can clearly discern when GT is in effect. The purpose of this project is to provide full Americans with Disabilities (ADA) accessibility at Livonia Avenue Station on the Canarsie Line in the Borough of Brooklyn.
