8193 also has the screens. Finally Staten Island is installing them. Quick question, why are they installing the two screens so close together on the 8000 Nova LFSs?  Its like the first screen is over the white line in front, and the second screen is in the middle of the wheelchair seats, they couldn't put that second screen over the front part of the rear door? Similar to 8504?

Here's 8207 for reference.

Thank you, see the second screen on 8207 is so close, I don't even think it reaches the middle of the bus.

Here's 8504, notice the second screen is over the rear door area, more further back.

I took a closer look. 8504 has both vents for the HVAC, only difference is that it doesn't have the Stop Request sign in the back, so it was able to be mounted there, compared to the older units.

Ahh that makes sense, thanks. That sucks, that second stop request sign was pointless anyways. I just hope that second screen is visible enough from the last row.

If possible double check some of these buses as some do not have screens on board. That said...

I'm sorry but why isn't Version 4 the standard on all buses?? Those things are 10x better than anything else we have.

I watched a couple YouTube videos, as soon as the bus passes the stop, it announces the next stop, unlike Version 2 that delays until about a block away.

These screens also announce the transfers at each stop and has very good pronunciation, unlike the other ones that are too robotic, with wrong pronunciation.

These screens also announce service alerts posted on the MTA website. I don't get it, they're literally perfect. If you ride the college point routes you're basically set, it's just unfortunate that the C40LFs don't have USB ports.

Take a look: much better than the ones on most buses.

On top of that, I also prefer the layout of the Luminator screens on the C40LFs over the others (1 smaller screen next to the ADA flip-up seats and the widescreen towards the middle). It's just simple yet effective.

@East New York Whats up man. Anyway you can break down the progress of these screens? How come Version 4 (the Luminators), aren't the standard? Please tell me it didn't come down to cost...

I wont be shocked if its the same reason we have both LFS and XD/XDE/XE for fleet replacement rather than just sorely one.

Version 4 gets annoying very fast... the thing just will not shut up

My personal favorite is Version 2; they just need to fix the stop triggers and program transfers and BusTime/SubwayTime integration like the Q44 pilot

Nah I could definitely see it getting annoying lmaoo. Honestly I like Version 2 as well, but it seems incomplete. I liked version 2 when it was testing on the M15 SBS. Just like you said if they can adjust when it makes the next stop announcement, and add in the transfers like the pilots did, then I'll stop complaining lol. The next stop announcement takes like a block to process, and if its a local route, everything would just start overlapping. It works better for limited and SBS routes because the stops are further apart.

What code issues?

When the (MTA) first started using the screens on the S79 SBS buses (Early 2017), the (MTA) started to play a little game of switch-a-roo. They put LFS's on the S79 and let the SBS NG's roam around the local routes to test the screens. When the announcements started playing on the S57, it would count school stops, meaning that it would be 1-2 stops behind when the bus got to the terminal. They never did anything to fix that and the route would always be a bit off.
