The most useful ones are the Luminator ones, as they announce transfers. The Vianova and CleverDevices ones should be changed to do that.

BTW, what company was it that bought DRI, who made Talking Bus---was it Luminator?

DRI was aqcuired by Luminator and Clever Devices.

Also the Clever Device screens already announce transfers. What should be fixed is how long it takes to load the transfer announcements after the initial stop announcement was made.

Word I would dread if they used Clever Devices on the local routes. The amount of overlapping would be ridiculous. The Luminators are perfect for ALL routes. Just get rid of the service alerts. Soon as the bus is a full length out the stop, the next stop announcements play, NO delay.

What's up with most of the Clever Device screens not giving out route and stop info?

This whole program is a JOKE. They tested out three systems. And then Luminator comes out of NOWHERE and turns out to be the best one out of the 3 they tested. The Version 2 that they have installed on a majority of the buses don't announce transfers, only stops. Also, the refresh rate for Version 2 is ridiculously slow. The damn clever devices don't work now, only show ads. Honestly I don't understand why they just can't use the Luminators on ALL buses. Those screens are perfect, and college point updated them to stop talking so much, just mainly naming each stop and service announcements once and a blue.

@EastNewYork can you please chim in because this was something I was looking forward to and the MTA just can't get it right. I don't understand why they don't ask the publics opinion on things. That's why everyone is so against the MTA because of a lack of communication with the public. Tax dollars going to waste on malfunctioning garbage.

There's new Version 2 (2.1?) on 7591 (and maybe the other Quill ones have it too IDK) that fixed the refresh rate and announces transfers. I still prefer these screens.

Or it could be that every depot now has them so now they can program them.

@Around the Horn I like version 2 on the M15 SBS. I feel it works much better on SBS routes since the stops aren't as close together. Also, it felt complete compared to the other two being tested. Do you have a video of the new updated version 2 with the faster refresh rate and transfers?

I like version 4 because the refresh rate is fast, and it announces transfers, and it sounds more natural. Only thing that can get annoying with version 4 is the service alerts and naming the next two stops coming up.

Now they have it set to where it announces only the next stop at each stop, with the transfers, and the service alerts when boarding at certain times.

I don't have video but the "next stop" trigger is roughly 40 feet after the (previous) bus stop pole and the "this stop" trigger seems to be the first crosswalk for the cross street.

That's for far side stops. I wasn't on the M42 for any of the near side stops, so idk what the triggers are for those.

Oh yes excellent. That sounds just like the Luminators refresh rate, because when I watched on board videos, literally as soon as the bus cleared the pole the next stop announcements triggered. Can't wait to see more of version 2s like that, thanks for the update.

Finally these new XD40s announce transfers. When are they going to add them on the XD40s in Brooklyn? Its long overdue.

Also, any videos of it in action?
