Yup. I think sending the (G) to QBP or to 21st (F) should be made more of a priority than it is today, what with LIC building up, non-conventional commutes becoming more popular, and deinterlining looking more likely. Beyond that, though, I don't see much reason to continue -- unless, of course, you send it across the river as a crosstown route in Manhattan, completing a just-outside-the-core orbital route.

G to 21 Queensbridge, or really G as "21st street line" is a well needed idea. In-system transfer to F, along with a new station under 21st street at 44 drive, transfer to 53rd street line, 1 flight of stairs, abandon G under Jackson Ave platform. Install direct escalators between 7 platform and E train platform instead of the Triangle today under Citicorp Building. Extend 21 street line from 41 ave/F/63 line to Broadway as phase 1. That will swallow Ravenswood NYCHA and fleabag LIC hotel traffic, along with LIC HS and be a backup for Astoria line when it is shut down on weekends for repairs. Astoria Blvd (Hallets Point)/21, plus a 20th ave+31 street (extend N 1 stop to meet G), then follow 20th avenue to LGA. No digging up Ditmars that way. 20th Avenue is industrial on north side so minimum NIMBY complaints.

The (G) via 21st would be a much more effective alternative to doing the BQX. At least then you can have all-weather transfers to the (F) (possibly also the (M) if QBL and the 53rd St tunnel are de-interlined) at Queensbridge and the (E) (possibly also the (K) for the same reason) at 23rd-Ely. Though the transfer to the (7) would be a bit of a hike. And Queensboro Plaza and the other (7) stations in LIC are just out of reach of the (G) on 21st.
