MTA Bus Taken on Joyride - MTA Doesn’t Notice Until Over Eight Hours Later

In my opinion, this has an easy low-tech solution, although it may not have prevented the theft of bus 1010, which was a swing bus...a padlock like the American Lock 2000 Series on the local buses, and using the locks already installed on the express buses. To me, this solution would probably cost something like $100-125 per local bus, and only the cost of standardizing the locks on the express buses. Not everything requires a high-tech solution, although there should be a remote ability to shut off a bus suspected of being stolen.

Where on the bus would they attach those locks?

Front doors via welding and then painting over the lock apparatus white or blue.

That's cool. The painting of the lock should also be the color of the area of the bus it will be installed in to camouflage with the bus and the thieves would never know it's there, so that way if they try to pry the doors open, the doors would not open. Also, should they do anything to secure the driver window to prevent thieves from climbing in through the window and directly into the drivers seat?
