Lance Posted April 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2019 It looks like Cuomo is getting the gang back together, this time to investigate the cost and schedule overruns of the East Side Access project. Second Ave Sagas has the full breakdown, but here's the mandate from the governor's office: For purposes of an independent review of the project commonly referred to as “East Side Access”, the metropolitan transportation authority shall establish an outside expert advisory group to review such project and make recommendations to accelerate its completion. Such outside experts shall include members of the outside independent review team established to review the project commonly referred to as the “L-train project”. Such review shall be completed as soon as practicable for consideration by the metropolitan transportation authority board. At what point does Mr. Johnny Come Lately realize that his "interventions" when the project is nearly complete do not do anything to actually address the issue at hand here? He did the same stunt with the opening of the Second Ave line at the end of 2016, something similar when he threw his support behind Penn-Moynihan when the project was well underway. He can't swoop in and look like the hero when he hasn't actually done anything. Also, what with this insistence on using Columbia and Cornell for all of his outside reviews lately? They're great schools in all, but the fact that Cuomo keeps going to them for any and everything makes a little concerned. It kind of makes you wonder whether we should be investigating him for possibly being in the pockets of these schools.

bobtehpanda Posted April 19, 2019 Share #3 Posted April 19, 2019 Just gonna leave this here and point out he's been the governor for two terms already, going into his third. A day late and a (billion) dollars short, or a few.

Gotham Bus Co. Posted April 21, 2019 Share #7 Posted April 21, 2019 Is this the same Cuomo who "doesn't control" the MTA?
WestFarms36 Posted April 22, 2019 Share #8 Posted April 22, 2019 It seriously sucks on how Cuomo is seriously sidelining people for some deans who have poor transit experience to literally consult on every thing that comes towards the MTA. This shit that Cuomo is doing is like telling the Board to shut up and not ruin it type of thing... I have never seen anything so obscene in my life, and the fact that he refers to these once forgotten professors as "experts" just shows how much smoke Cuomo is trying to blow up people's ass. This guy keeps stating that he has no control of the MTA, but every single disaster he makes just ends up as a Cuomo thing, this L project will be an interesting turn out to see, and if he put these 2 "experts" to oversee this project, I don't even think ESA will be a thing until a thousand centennials later... The project is 85% done, so East Side Access will probably happen. This is mostly just shutting the barn doors after the horse is loose.
