Fulton Street in Brooklyn already works (somehow), so why not in Manhattan?

Lawrence St Posted February 2, 2019 Share #2112 Posted February 2, 2019 Does anyone know why the M60 was rerouted between Astoria Blvd and Steinway St? They added new SBS machines at Starbucks and said it was temporary , any ideas?

Second, that intersection will be closed for 20 weekends during construction. Union Tpke Posted February 16, 2019 Author Share #2118 Posted February 16, 2019 L Project Weekly #10: This week's news, that Court Sq moving walkway, Select Bus Service coming to 14th Street Non-L Project update: Select Bus Service is coming to 14th Street in Manhattan It's not the L Project. Or the L. But it partially would run right above where the L is, so we thought you'd be interested to get the news that we've committed to operating a permanent Select Bus Service on 14th Street in Manhattan. We'll be partnering with NYC DOT on the planning, design and implementation of bus priority along the route including bus lanes on 14th Street. Our next step is to do a proper community input process on our initial proposed route (see above photo), so more to come. unnamed by Union Turnpike, on Flickr

Don't really get why this wasn't the first plan. Probably because of the but it's good to hear the oddball Quill artic routes will be fully converted.

The current M14A/D cannot absorb the ridership the L has (especially during the rush) They probably also realized how bad fare beating is on the route too

I'm wondering how Manhattan Community Boards 4, 5, and 6 are going to react to this? What will they propose for the 14th Street corridor? Will they proposed the traditional curbside or offset bus lanes? Or will advocate for the full 14th Street closure or a median busway? So many questions to be asked here about this M14 SBS plan. Also keep in mind that they are the EXACT three community boards who asked for median busways along 23rd Street M23 SBS back in 2016, so they could ask for something similar to that.
