N6 Limited Posted February 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2020 https://patch.com/new-york/bayside/uber-launches-new-service-help-lirr-riders-make-their-train Quote Riders will now be able to view the LIRR schedule in the Uber app, select their train and pre-schedule an Uber ride that will get them to their station in time to make it on board, according to a press release. I wonder if they'll pool riders to the stations.

QM1to6Ave Posted February 9, 2020 Share #3 Posted February 9, 2020 Will this be set up for every single LIRR stop? I couldn't tell from the article

bobtehpanda Posted February 12, 2020 Share #5 Posted February 12, 2020 Surprised the mafia running the various taxi companies by the LIRR stations don't have anything to say about that.

What can they say? You call them for a ride to the station, the time of pick-up can be up to 60 mins, and they generally charge more than a one way LIRR ticket. Now, rides from LIRR they can have something to say about, since that's almost direct poaching.

I don't really see much cabs out on Long Island. I think it's now Two Brothers, Hub Taxi, and All Island Ollie's Taxi and Airport Service. All the smaller cab companies have folded because they can't compete with Uber and the buses for LIRR commuters. IIRC, more drivers are simply choosing to work for Uber/Lyft because they don't want to pay for the medallions.

Finally, a reason to cut the N57 and put that money somewhere more useful, such as better bus service in Elmont.

The 57 is a loop around the Great Neck Area NICE also gave Upper Great Neck their own loop to the rail station The problem? The n25, n23, and n27 are the only routes that gets high usage up there bringing people down to Mineola, Roosevelt Field, and Lynbrook. It's mainly Hospital workers who use the n25, or Manorhaven residents for the n23. The n27 doesn't get much usage due to lack of lighting along Rosyln/Glen Cove Road. The common destination is Mineola for the railroad station or Hempstead for Bus Transfers. The n25 gets 3000, and the n23 gets 1800 serving Manorhaven and the n27 gets 1500. Weekend service was cut because people wanted to travel between Roosevelt Field and Glen Cove, which can be done by a transfer from the LIRR to the n22/24 IIRC, a lot of cabs late nights have been heading north because more people take the bus home at night. Either way RIP All Island
