(1) trains will operate in two sections between Van Cortlandt Park 242nd Street and 96th Street and between South Ferry and Times Square 42nd Street.

(2) trains will operate via the (5) between 149th Street Grand Concourse and Atlantic Avenue Barclays Center.

42nd Street (S) will operate at all times.

Phase 2:  Times Square 42nd Street to Atlantic Avenue Barclays Center

(2) trains will operate via the (5) between 149th Street Grand Concourse and Atlantic Avenue Barclays Center.

A free out of system transfer will be available between Atlantic Avenue Barclays Center and Lafayette Avenue (C).

Free shuttle buses will operate between 149th Street Grand Concourse and 145th Street.

Phase 1:

Either you'd run special (B)s or reroute the (M) to 145. Just the 6TPH of the (C) is NOT OK.

Also, Why not end the (1) at 137, then have shuttle buses run to 110th (C)(M)?

Phase 2 is fine

I said extra (C) trains would operate with full length trains from the (A).  The normal 480 foot trains from the (C) could be used to extend the (M) to 168th.  I wanted the (1) to extend as far south as possible to maintain train service at as many station as possible.

For Phase 2, I forgot to include that (4) trains would be extended to New Lots and run local between Franklin Avenue and Crown Heights Utica Avenue.

JAMAICA LINE STATION AND JUNCTION MODERNIZATION:

All times beginning 7/01/2020

To improve (J)(M)(Z) service, we are rebuilding the junction at Myrtle Avenue, replacing the Lorimer Street and Hewes Street stations with one station at Union Avenue with a connection to the (G), and modernizing existing stations.  To accomplish these projects, the following service changes will be in effect.

Phase 1:  7/01/2020-1/01/2021

The Manhattan-bound tracks and stations will be upgraded.  There will be no Manhattan-bound (J)(Z) service at Flushing Avenue, Lorimer Street, and Hewes Street.

All Manhattan-bound (J)(Z) trains will run express from Myrtle Avenue to Marcy Avenue.  Skip stop service will continue to operate during rush hours, but Jamaica-Center bound trains will run local between Marcy Avenue and Myrtle Avenue.

For service from Flushing Avenue, Lorimer Street, and Hewes Street, take a Jamaica Center-bound (J) train to Myrtle Avenue and transfer.

For service to Flushing Avenue, Lorimer Street, and Hewes Street, transfer at Marcy Avenue to a Jamaica Center-bound (J) train making all local stops.

(M) trains will operate in two sections, between Middle Village Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle Avenue (signed as (brownM)), and between Forest Hills 71st Avenue and 2nd Avenue Lower East Side.

Phase 2:  1/01/2021-7/01/2021

The Jamaica Center-bound tracks and stations will be upgraded.  There will be no Jamaica Center-bound (J)(Z) service at Flushing Avenue.  The new Union Avenue Station will be open on the Manhattan-bound side only.

All Jamaica Center-bound (J)(Z) trains will run express from Marcy Avenue to Myrtle Avenue.  Skip stop service will continue to operate during rush hours, but Manhattan-bound trains will run local between Myrtle Avenue and Marcy Avenue.

For service from Union Avenue and Flushing Avenue, take a Manhattan-bound (J)(Z) train to Marcy Avenue and transfer.

IMPROVING THE (4)(5)(6) LINES

Effective 24/7 from 5/31/2020 to 1/26/2021

We are looking to modernize the (4)(5)(6) lines with:

  • Newer Countdown Clocks
  • Platform Restoration
  • Increased Accesibility
  • Restored Switches and rails
  • LED Information Kiosks
  • OMNY Turnstiles and MORE!

But to do this, we will need to make a lot of changes to your commute.

(5) trains are not running. For service to Dyre Av, a sole<5> train will shuttle between 180 St and Dyre Av.

<4> train service is running full time to make up for the loss of (5) train service

On weekdays, all Bronx bound (4) trains run as <4> trains. This means that all uptown 4 trains will skip 138 St, 161 St, 167 St, 170 St, Mt Eden Av, 176 St, 183 St, Fordham Rd, Kingsbridge Rd, Bedford Pk Blvd and Mosholu Pkwy. For service to these stations, switch at Woodlawn or Burnside Av for a downtown (4)

During late nights, all (4)<4> trains will terminate at Burnside Avenue. For service to Woodlawn, use the :bus_bullet_bx1::bus_bullet_bx4:, or the :bus_bullet_bxm4:

On weekends, all (4)<4> trains will bypass Burnside Avenue station. For service to Burnside Avenue, use the :bus_bullet_bx1::bus_bullet_bx4:, or the :bus_bullet_bxm4:

On weekdays, all Bronx bound (6) trains run as <6> trains. For service to Brook Av, Cypress Av, E 143 St, E 149 St, Longwood Av, Whitlock Av, Elder Av, Morrison Av, or St Lawrence Av use shuttle buses.

No trains will run from Flatbush Av to Franklin Av, use the :bus_bullet_b44_ltd:.

This is unlikely to fly; the (4) train can still terminate at Burnside Avenue, but would have to skip 170, Mount Eden and 176 to more easily terminate at Burnside Avenue. As for the weekend, the Manhattan bound platform at Burnside Avenue can still be used to serve trains; besides, the :bus_bullet_bx32: bus is right under Jerome Avenue itself for a replacement, followed by the :bus_bullet_bx16: bus, :bus_bullet_bx28: bus and :bus_bullet_bx34: bus besides the Westchester 20 and 20X. I'm not sure what else needs to be tackled in this.

(MTA)SERVICE CHANGES

A protest on the tracks at Canal Street lead to 4 people being struck by a southbound (R) train , and 7 people being struck by a northbound (W) train.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances:

The (R)(W) Canal Street station is closed due to NYPD and paramedic action

(R) Trains are running along the (N) line in between Prince Street and DeKalb Avenue.

(RR) service is running ever 30 minutes in between City Hall and 95th Street, turning around on the express tracks at Canal Street.

(W) trains are running on the (N) line between Prince Street and 36th Street, the last stop. (W) trains are not suspended due to increases in demand

We give our apologies to anyone related to those involved in this tragic event. JK, both of the drivers now have PTSD and it's your fault. Stay off the gosh darn tracks!

this isn’t a G.O. , I think the what if thread would be better for a post like this.. but I think that last part was kinda unnecessary

(MTA) Line Renovation.

Effective 6/7/2020 until 5/2021

The Franklin Avenue Subway is getting an extension and upgrades! These include

  • LED Countdown Clocks
  • Restored station art
  • Full length trains and platforms (10-car)
  • 2 tracks for the full route
  • Extension to the (G) at Bedford-Norstrand Avs, with tracks eventually merging with the (G)

To make this possible, we need to make a few changes:

  • The Franklin Avenue (S) is fully suspended, use the :bus_bullet_b48: or shuttle bus.
  • To keep service even, the 4 R68 cars running on the (S) will be transfered to the (G), so there will be 2 full-length (G) trains running.
  • (B)(Q)(2)(3)(4)(5)(C)  trains are running their full routes 24/7 to make up for lost (S) service

This is to make Franklin Avenue shuttle service smoother and add more connections. It is also so the shuttle is much more convenient during service distruptions. For example, if there are issues on the (G) south of Classon Avenue, the (G) could be temporarily rerouted down the shuttle.

  • (F) trains will run along the (G) line between Queens Plaza and Bergen St
  • <F> trains will run local between Bergen St and Smith - 9th Sts.
  • (E) trains running via the (R) sounds good on paper, but then you have to deal with (W) trains. That and (N) trains being forced to run local, in Manhattan which would mean 3 local service running because this is service running on Weekdays, too.
  • (R) trains running late night service during weekdays isn't bad either, but you have to deal with the (W) terminating at Whitehall as well so (W) trains need to terminate somewhere else. I don't see a reason to run (E) trains at all if that is the case because again, this is running on Weekdays. If anything, just keep the (R) running to Forest Hills with the (E) terminating at 21 St-Queensbridge. There are relay switches for it to turn trains around, I would still keep the (E) local in this scenario with the (R).
  • Nothing to say much about the (M), however, there needs to be another service running on 6th Av for this to work. The (M) can't carry 6th Av on its own, especially with it running 8 cars instead of 10 cars, which means less capacity it can run. The (M) also needs to run full time for this to work as well since you have the (F) running via the (G).
  • (N) trains running local on in Manhattan shouldn't happen, especially with this proposed (E) via Broadway to Whitehall, the (N) is going to be backed up a lot along with the (W) here.
  • If you really wanted to reroute (F) trains via the (G), you're going to have to force (G) trains to be extended as well onto QBL. (G) trains cannot terminate at Court Square while (F) trains run through it full time until Spring as both trains end up being delayed. Maybe running the (G) to Jamaica to make up for the lose of the (E), (F) trains are running express still in this scenario anyways. Although, I would just keep the (F) running to Manhattan anyways with it running to 96 St-2 Av with the (M). If possible, because of the congestion that causes for the (Q), maybe having the (F) replace the (M) or the (M) running to Lexington Av-53rd St and terminating there. Like 21 St-Queensbridge, there are relay switches that can allow for it to terminate there.

The point is to run service at its best with these reroutes, however, these reroutes can only work if it was weekend service, not weekday service. It ends up congesting lines, causing delays and trouble. My ideas are probably not any better than what you came up with, however, I highly doubt the (MTA) would have both 53rd St and 63rd St closed. It ends up making service on QBL much more worse than it needs to be.

The (W) is not a problem, as at the beginning i mentioned that it is only on weekends and nights, when the (W) does not run

You never mentioned that, like at all. You might want to go and take a look.

Oh wait, never mind forget what I said. I actually just saw what you said, I'm completely blind. Although, now that I'm thinking about it, (R) trains terminating with (E) trains at Whitehall still would be a bad idea since its only going to share 1 track to terminate their trains. Anyways, forget what I said.

This is on the weekend, so (B) service is a non-issue.

The (Q) terminates at Roosevelt Island because the switch replacement part of this is at 21 St. You can turn trains at Roosevelt Island - see this map:

if you put old LIRR routes couldnt put the old LIRR evergreen line
