Union Tpke Posted April 27, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2020 @Lance Do you have any idea why the MTA created a developer website with its press releases, but still relies on the old website to host them?

Union Tpke Posted April 27, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) By searching these domains on google, you can find some interesting things: https://www.google.com/search?q=site:http://new2.mta.info&client=safari&rls=en&ei=AtCmXsHiCtWrytMP46GCqA4&start=0&sa=N&ved=2ahUKEwjB69TbzYjpAhXVlXIEHeOQAOU4ChDy0wN6BAgLECw&biw=1264&bih=789 E.g. New York City Subway - WordPress.com new2.mta.info › sites › default › files › subway_map_app... For instance, this is the subway map for the reopening of WTC Cortlandt. Notice it says Cort_unlock_Sep2018 https://new2.mta.info/sites/default/files/2018-09/subway_map_app_web_Cort_unlock_Sep2018.pdf Edited April 27, 2020 by Union Tpke
bobtehpanda Posted April 27, 2020 Share #4 Posted April 27, 2020 As someone who works in tech: Developer websites are usually used for QA purposes to iron out bugs before they are officially rolled out. That being said, I feel like actually publicly exposing them on the public internet may not have been intentional, and I would not really publicize the existence of this website if I were you. Someone might get in trouble.

Why would I know? I don't work for the MTA, nor do I have any familiarity in IT. I imagine the answer from @bobtehpanda is likely correct though.
