1700-1707, 1709-1711, 1713, 1715, 1717-1718, 1720, 1726-1727, 1731-1732, 1735-1736, 1738, 1740, 1742-1743, 1745-1747, 1749-1752, 1754-1755, 1758-1760, 1774-1775, 1780, 1785, 1793, 1796(044) are all confirmed retired as of 10/26/2021

 

2000-2055(056) are all delivered to Mitchel Field

Well all of you guys criticizing NICE and Gillig, 

You guys want more Nova's and New Flyers already sprawling all over the whole transit Network or just appreciate the Gilligs.  They have been around for over 100 years. So. Obviously they are doing something right.  Also at least NICE got the BRT model which is the best looking one out of all of the other Gilligs

1700 update:

1719, 1722, 1728-1729, 1737, 1741, 1756-1757, 1764, 1766, 1769-1770, 1773, 1776-1777, 1782, 1784, 1786-1792, 1795, 1798(026) all remain active, 1700-1718, 1720-1721, 1723-1727, 1730-1736, 1738-1740, 1742-1755, 1758-1761, 1763, 1765, 1767-1768, 1771-1772, 1774-1775, 1778-1779, 1780-1781, 1783, 1785, 1793-1794, 1796-1797, 1799(074) confirmed to be retired. However 1785 and 1797 have been sitting in the Mitchel Field staff parking lot for some time, they still have their fareboxes, radios, license plates and no missing parts(all the retired units besides 1785 and 1797 have their license plates taken off, missing fareboxes, and some have missing parts)


Gillig update:

NICE now has Gilligs 2000-2055 & 2057(057) 2056, 2058-2060 are currently on the way. 2000-2036, 2038-2041 & 2043-2046 have already hit service while 2037, 2042, 2047-2055 are awaiting inspections, receiving their license plates, fareboxes and all that stuff.

There are no good-looking Gilligs, There just aren't.

I mean I won’t lie here, I really like the BRTs and so far they have been preforming really well under NICE and no issues were reported. I rode on 14 units and I experienced no issues at all. Speaking of Gilligs…

 

All Gilligs 2000-2079 have all been delivered as of 12/13/2021

As of 12/23/2021, all of the NICE Bus(ex-MTA Long Island Bus) 2008-2009 Orion VII NG CNGs(aka 1700s) are OFFICIALLY retired, the last unit to run in revenue service was on 12/16/2021 and it was 1729 on the n70.

That was a lot faster than I thought, damn....

At least for the last few 1700s, the inspections were up this December and NICE was not going to have those renewed so the scheduling worked out this way.

That makes since as NICE didn't want to spend money on doing that, just to retire them soon after. However with that being said, I do wonder why do NICE even retire these so soon?They could have made it til 2023-2024 in all honesty.

I haven't heard official word from Nice nor other sources. My understanding was option 1 couldn't be accepted till the start of 2022 anyways. However, we have seen 1800 and 1801 retire, they could very well have taken it quietly into their own hands

Those Orion’s had crazy high mileage on them. It was cost effective to get rid of them now especially since they were 12 which is the retirement age for transit buses anyways. Of course in many cases buses can last longer but why not get rid of them if you can.

All the Orion 7s are honestly shot at this point, and that is including the 3G's. I doubt they can make it another summer. 

They been through a really dark period of deferred maintenance of the final days of LIB as well as the dark days of NICE

The inspections for many of the 2010-2011 1800s are up in May/June of this year. NICE can choose to forego their renewal and retire them, or renew the inspection to keep them around a little longer.

From my POV It’s likely that NICE will begin to retire the 1800s, 1807 is broken and left the depot like a month ago
