checkmatechamp13 Posted November 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 8, 2020 https://www.njtransit.com/press-releases/nj-transit-enhances-weekend-rail-service-select-stations Basically, more trains will be stopping at lower-ridership local stations like Garwood, Avenel, North Elizabeth, Teterboro and Woodcliff Lake.
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted November 8, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2020 Makes sense to have the stop at Teterboro. With the Amazon fulfillment center there, plus the nearby neighborhood, I would say it might have been a bit overdue.

There is a fence separating it, and to reach the neighborhood you would either have to walk along the expressway-like portion of US-46 (and some portions of those exit ramps have no sidewalks whatsoever), or walk all the way down to Malcolm Avenue and cross Route 17 (which is super-wide and is also basically a highway). So you can only realistically get to the shopping center and Amazon Center from that station.

It wouldn't hurt to allow access to that station from the west. If a walkway from Williams Ave to the south end of the platform is added, it wouldn't cost too much to place and maintain it. checkmatechamp13 Posted November 9, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted November 9, 2020 @BM5 via Woodhaven Before February 2013, people used to come in from Williams Avenue, cross the track, and wait on the platform, but a few years ago they closed that grade-crossing and built a fence (apparently it wasn't a legal grade-crossing but just an unofficial one). They could've just installed some lights, bells, and crossing arms, made it a legal grade crossing and the station would've had better ridership. (The #163/164 and #76 all serve entirely different areas compared to the Pascack Valley Line)
