LIB bought 100 Orion NG buses and #1700 has arrived on service on N27.
nycbusfan 2 Posted October 31, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 31, 2008 The bus is a CNG model and is not identical to NYCT Orion VII NG's. The order is actually for 60 buses with an option of 40 more.
trainspot12 21 Posted November 3, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 3, 2008 I keep on hearing it is in service on the N23. Is that true?
Cait Sith 9,043 Posted November 3, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 3, 2008 Not testing. LIB bought 100 Orion NG buses and #1700 has arrived on service on N27. It is a test / pilot bus. 1700 is here for testing / training and if all goes well, we will see more buses by mid-december. As for pictures and such, search around buschat

7LineFan 256 Posted November 14, 2008 Share #7 Posted November 14, 2008 10 days late but thought it would be appropriate, even if you've seen pics of it on Buschat. http://www.ttmg.org/pages/dcbna/nymta-orionx.html If only they were keeping the half orange half blue stripe though. aemoreira81 975 Posted November 18, 2008 Share #8 Posted November 18, 2008 To add: I really doubt that 1700 is a test bus. It may be here for 30 days, but I'm expecting that it will eventually return. For instance, 3800 is back at Orion, but it is returning. I expect that this bus will go back to Orion and eventually return.

I expect that this bus will go back to Orion and eventually return. 1700 and 3800 were both "pilot" buses. Typically built in advance of a large order and sent to the customer to put into revenue service. 3800 came back to the factory to have all updates (Orion and NYCT driven changes). When updated, it will return to service. 1700 has not been determined if it will return to the factory or not for updates.
