BM5 via Woodhaven Posted February 16, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 16, 2021 The weekend of 2/5-2/6, there was a rather cumbersome service change for riders due to track plate replacement. It included the following: trains operated in two sections 1. Shuttle: 96th Street to Lexington Avenue - 63rd Street 2. Times Square to Coney Island trains operated as follows 1. Fri 9:45 PM to Saturday 11:59 PM - Queens bound trains ran via 63rd Street, Delancey Street trains ran via 53rd Street 2. Sunday 12:00 AM to Monday 1:00 AM - Queens bound trains ran via 53rd Street, Delancey Street trains ran via 63rd Street This meant that at any one time, the only stopped there for connections in one direction. So depending on the day, if you had to get to/from Lexington Avenue-63rd Street, there wasn't a train for you. Anyways, unlike the same service pattern back in September, the shuttle this month were all signed up as yellow trains throughout. For the most part, no bullets were used. Additionally, trains upon arriving Lexington Avenue headed west past the switches beyond the station, then reversed direction back to Lexington Avenue, then picking up people towards 96th Street. Passengers were allowed on trains during that process on Saturday, but were instructed to remain on the platform on Sunday. Here's some footage below from last weekend's 2nd Avenue shuttle operation. 1975-1978 Pullman R46 Car 5602 on the at Lexington Avenue-63rd Street by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 1975-1978 Pullman R46 Car 5734 on the at Lexington Avenue-63rd Street by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 1975-1978 Pullman R46 Cat 5602 on the at 86th Street by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr Thanks for viewing, and enjoy!
MHV9218 Posted February 17, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 17, 2021 Nice catches. Nice to see they finally replaced the cheap tin signs from the SAS opening with porcelain enamel.
