BM5 via Woodhaven Posted September 12, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2021 Managed to take the Cannonball express train from Penn Station the other week, and I got to record the ride on the way there. Although I've taken the Montauk Branch out to various points along the line in the past, this is both my first time taking it past East Hampton, and riding the full Montauk Branch service. Its express segment from Penn Station to Westhampton is the longest of any existing scheduled train (both in mileage and duration). The train as makes two stops at each station because of its length with respect to the platforms. Here's footage of that trip: 1997-1999 EMD DM30AC 501 on The Cannonball / Montauk Branch Train 2798 at Montauk by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 1997-1999 EMD DM30AC 501 on The Cannonball / Montauk Branch Train 2798 at Montauk by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr The train I took back, the 10:05 PM from Montauk, took longer to get to Jamaica than the entire Cannonball trip, by over 15 minutes or so. 1997-1999 DE30AC 415 on Montauk Branch Train 2711 at Montauk by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr Here's also additional footage from Mineola station from August, including an M9 test train (which may have been 9131 leading, I don't remember): 1997-1999 EMD DM30AC 509 Leading Oyster Bay Branch Train 572 at Mineola Station by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 2002-2006 Bombardier M7 Car 7806 on Port Jefferson/Huntington Branch Train 674 at Mineola by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr 2019-2021 Kawasaki M9 (Car Unknown) on a Ronkonkoma Branch Test Train at Mineola by BM5 Photos 2019-2021, on Flickr Thanks for viewing!
