RokuSix Posted November 8, 2008 #1 Posted November 8, 2008 What makes this R62A on the so special? Look at it... I noticed it today...I had no idea they were doing it. Am I slow, or is this a regular thing?
via White Plains Road Posted November 8, 2008 #2 Posted November 8, 2008 The bucket seats are just a lil different....its been like that on some of the R-62's or R-62A's!
7LineFan Posted November 8, 2008 #3 Posted November 8, 2008 Those aren't bucket seats. Those are bench seats, installed in response to the negative attitudes towards the bucket seating. Only 4 R62's have them, however, and there are no plans to retrofit any existing cars with them as those are actually factory-installed.
DonOfAllBuses Posted November 8, 2008 #4 Posted November 8, 2008 I like the bucket seats. They keep me from sliding down the car when i sleep...
BroadwayBuffer Posted November 8, 2008 #6 Posted November 8, 2008 The problem with the R-62 & 62A bucket seats is that they're way too small for the average New Yorker's keister. You could have five bucket seats on a given R-62, by the time four people sit, there might only be a couple of inches in that fifth seat. This isn't as much of a problem on the 75 footers.
DonOfAllBuses Posted November 8, 2008 #7 Posted November 8, 2008 People need to cut down on those cheeseburgers!

That's the problem...too many fatties. They take up more than their share on a crowded rush hour train, they should have to pay more Bucket seats for life. Not to mention they prevent bums from lying down across the benches, becaues no one likes having the seat ridges dug into their back
mark1447 Posted November 8, 2008 #9 Posted November 8, 2008 I can see why the T/A is no longer reallying on the bucket based, becuz of the size of a human waste lol, and damn its so unclofertable on the 44-62As, aye i have to close my damn legs, good bless: 32-42 and 142- and later
PATCOman Posted November 8, 2008 #10 Posted November 8, 2008 I prefer bench over bucket, since I don't have to deal with sharing a seat with someone else. DOAB: a lot of people are going to take advantage of that 2 for $3 triple cheeseburger deal at McDs! Subway Guy: I remember an old post about having a special turnstyle for extra wide people!
Paul P Posted November 8, 2008 #11 Posted November 8, 2008 Damn, fatties, I love bucket seats, especially on B division trains, they are wider, and you can't slide anywhere, but you can't lie down, which I do alot
RokuSix Posted November 8, 2008 Author #12 Posted November 8, 2008 I know, I like bucket seats better...gives me my own little nugget of space. But I always end up stuck next to the person who had one too many cheeseburgers. My idea of the perfect train ride on anything Division B is getting on the R44 or R46...and getting one of those nice little seats in the corner all to myself, where I can look out the window.
mark1447 Posted November 8, 2008 #13 Posted November 8, 2008 BUCKET SEAT SUCKS!!! Im not getting my butt stuck cause of soo many people seating... BTW lets stop criticizing Fat perople and others, there could be some on this forum(Even tho im not), it doesnt seem nice, people have died only becuz of the fattiness causing a health issue PAULIS~~^^ hmmmmmmmmmm:rolleyes: and some others
Joe Posted November 9, 2008 #14 Posted November 9, 2008 I say we make the turnstiles a bit narrower. Too fat to get on the subway? Take the bus. Can't take the bus? Walk.

With so many bike lanes now, how about some biking?

Then they want everyone to cow tow to them and give them what they want because they made that choice. I'm not buyin that. It's not like being ugly or not being able to tan, you're born with that and you have no choice...fat or not you do. so no apologies for being direct on my end

R32 3348 Posted November 9, 2008 #20 Posted November 9, 2008 Lol, mean but true. There are too many BIG people. With so many bike lanes now, how about some biking? IMO there should be bike racks outside every subway station to promote biking to the station instead of taking the car, even the bus if you want.

You do just like I do, and tell it like it is, no matter who it hurts. I can attest to the fat issue, since I have been on both sides of the deep fried spectrum. Even those with genetic fatness, they don't have to end up looking like the Graf Zeppelin. Walking and exercise, is just like reading. It's fundamental........ aye i have to close my damn legs, good bless: Maybe that fishy smell in the subway will cease then........ I prefer bench over bucket, since I don't have to deal with sharing a seat with someone else. DOAB: a lot of people are going to take advantage of that 2 for $3 triple cheeseburger deal at McDs! Subway Guy: I remember an old post about having a special turnstyle for extra wide people! If MTA spends money on turnstiles for Extra Wide people, who get extra beef on their burgers, then they should be charged for that choice, that got them extra wide. Fare = $3......... I know, I like bucket seats better...gives me my own little nugget of space. But I always end up stuck next to the person who had one too many cheeseburgers. Maybe the glandularly challenged males like you, so they sit next to you, cause you can't cry assault, since in reality, they have no choice but to touch you with their spilled batter and arm flab........:p:p:p.......... It hurt so much........ Thankfully for 10 years I've been slim (more like athletically toned)......... I say we make the turnstiles a bit narrower. Too fat to get on the subway? Take the bus. Can't take the bus? Walk. That would decrease the seating capacity on the bus, plus it will destroy the buses fuel economy. Walking.......well only if their knees can handle the stress load on them............ I agree, for some it is a genetic thing, but it's rare, I would never like that kind of lifestyle, it's really hard to live like that.. It's not really. Actually it's kind of a laid back lifestyle.......
Paul P Posted November 10, 2008 #22 Posted November 10, 2008 Well, yes maybe for some, but I mean for the extra weight it would be hard for me, and of course to fit in a bucket seat...
