metsfan Posted November 10, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 10, 2008 I don't think it's really needed right now. Maybe after SAS is complete. - A

MTR Admiralty Posted November 10, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 10, 2008 There was a thread like this a while back... there was a huge reaction. And the defence arguments (the person was trying to defend his cause, fruitlessly) got so crazy, the mods had to shut it down. This is what I mean

Yeah, I mean... we had a huge flame war over it... The flames got so bad, Pablo had to be fireman and came in to extinguish the flames before it was too late. Forest Glen Posted November 10, 2008 Share #13 Posted November 10, 2008 This isn't Subchat. We don't do flame wars over here Getting back to the topic, this is a great idea. Southern Brooklyn doesn't have adequate express service. The B terminates at Brighton Beach so Ocean Parkway riders are screwed. N service in Brooklyn is inconsistent. The only caveat is that I don't think there's enough track capacity for this idea.

INDman Posted November 10, 2008 Share #16 Posted November 10, 2008 The Sea Beach has no express stations on it, which is something I always found to be odd. I also don't see how CI could handle any more trains terminating there and BB has the ( to relay so I don't even think if there was the demand that the service could be provided. Also on the Sea Beach they would have only one express track from Kings Hwy to 59th Street so if anything happened between those 2 points the service would be crippled. Plus what would the northern terminal be?
7LineFan Posted November 10, 2008 Share #17 Posted November 10, 2008 There aren't ANY express stations on the sea beach line lol:D plus, it's only single track... Single track to Kings Highway, and double the rest of the way to Coney. But yeah, it's not really worth it.
MTR Admiralty Posted November 10, 2008 Share #18 Posted November 10, 2008 There aren't ANY express stations on the sea beach line lol:D plus, it's only single track... Not even Utrecht... Plus the ridership is rather evenly distributed, so there is no need for an express station. Plus the demands are not that great for an express service. They could try to add more trains on weekends. Brighton Local Posted November 10, 2008 Share #19 Posted November 10, 2008 No need for the NX. Another train on Broadway/Manny B/4 Av? Nah. I would say, leave everything as is.
