metsfan Posted November 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 10, 2008 It looks like PRR was planning to electrify its entire network after its initial deployment in NJ and eastern PA. The keystone corridor was PRR's main line. If it had gone through with electrification we would be seeing a GG1 look-alike operating likely even today with the build quality back then. Note that in the middle there are only 4 sets of driving wheels vs the GG1's 6. GG1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRR_DD2 Very interesting stuff!!! - A
Pennsyjohn Posted August 15, 2020 Share #2 Posted August 15, 2020 Sorry to correct your caption, but this is NOT a DD2. The wheel arrangement is 4-6-0-0-6-0, which is a GG1. The DD2 was similar in body style, but its wheel arrangement was 4-4-0-0-4-4 Otherwise, a good picture of an engine in its finals of construction, I.E. off to the paint area.
