BrooklynBus 1,323 Posted April 26, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2022 Why is no one talking about the traffic mess that resulted from the Brooklyn marathon last Sunday? When such an event occurs, it is incumbent on the DOT and Police Department to ensure traffic is disruptions are kept to a minimum. Such was not the case. I have some friends around 80 who drive into Manhattan every Sunday at 7 AM. At that hour it shouldn’t be a problem. If they had taken the Belt Parkway/BQE there might not have been any problems. But they chose local streets instead. Big mistake. Police kept diverting them to making right turns. When they finally reached Downtown Brooklyn two hours later, it was impossible to get on any Bridge as the police diverted traffic away from them. They finally gave up and then tried to get back home which was no better with more traffic and diversions. In the end, they spent five hours in Brooklyn traffic stuck with buses and emergency vehicles as well and got nowhere. Someone needs to be held accountable.

Aside from no one knowing about it? If you're talking about people strictly on this site, think about where you are. If you're talking about any sort of wider scale, well, events like this are expected to impact traffic.

Of course they will impact traffic and cause delays. But it shouldn't be so bad that you can't even reach your destination. That was my point.
