Reid85 Posted February 9, 2023 Share #1 Posted February 9, 2023 Hello everyone, I am new to MTA and I was wondering if anyone knew the career path for staff analyst, or how to get promoted besides taking exams? I know there is an Associate Staff Analyst title. Would that be the highest point, or can you transition to another department like becoming a senior fiscal analyst?

I know there is an Associate Staff Analyst title. Would that be the highest point, or can you transition to another department like becoming a senior fiscal analyst? Here's the list of titles that exist in the analyst series: Associate Transit Management Analyst (OA – Represented by TWU) Min: $85,316 – Max: $110,468 Associate Transit Management Analyst (TA – Represented by DC-37) Min: $81,891 – Max: $106,027 Associate Transit Management Analyst (TA - NON/REP C&S) Min: $81,994 – Max: $106,164 Assistant Transit Management Analyst 1 (OA – Represented by TWU) Min: $65,003 – Max: $76,955 Assistant Transit Management Analyst 2 (OA – Represented by TWU) Min: $75,475 – Max: $ 84,060 Assistant Transit Management Analyst 1 (TA – NON/REP) Min: $62,471 – Max: $73,956 Assistant Transit Management Analyst 2 (TA – NON/REP) Min: $72,534 – Max: $80,784 Associate Staff Analyst (MTA BC – Represented by TWU): Min: $84,901 – Max: $109,929 Staff Analyst II (MTA BC – Represented by TWU): Min: $75,107 – Max: $83,649 Staff Analyst I (MTA BC - Represented by TWU): Min: $64,686 – Max: $76,579 Associate Staff Analyst (OA – Represented by TWU): Min: - Max: $85,316 - $110,468 Associate Staff Analyst (TA – Represented by OSA): Min: - Max: $77,356 - $100,155 Staff Analyst II (OA – Represented by TWU): Min: $75,475 – Max: $84,060 Staff Analyst II (TA – Represented by OSA): Min: $68,430 - Max: $76,213 Staff Analyst I (OA – Represented by TWU): Min: $65,003 - Max: $76,955 Staff Analyst I (TA – Represented by OSA): Min: $58,934 - Max: $69,771 Key distinction, will be some are (union) represented and some are not & yes you can go outside the analyst title for other titles. Exams allow for promotion, you could promote with hire to new title as well (but likely provisional vs permanent) Good Luck.
Reid85 Posted February 13, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted February 13, 2023 Wow, thank you for this. Assistant Transit Management Analyst 2 (OA – Represented by TWU) Min: $75,475 – Max: $ 84,060 Staff Analyst II (OA – Represented by TWU): Min: $75,475 – Max: $84,060 I find it quite interesting that these two would have the same pay scale. I just assumed management would pay more. I would think one would hate to get a promotion and have the same pay. That's crazy. I could only imagine salary negotiations.
