Career Trajectory for Staff Analyst

Hello everyone,

I am new to MTA and I was wondering if anyone knew the career path for staff analyst, or how to get promoted besides taking exams? I know there is an Associate Staff Analyst title. Would that be the highest point, or can you transition to another department like becoming a senior fiscal analyst?

Key distinction, will be some are (union) represented and some are not & yes you can go outside the analyst title for other titles. Exams allow for promotion, you could promote with hire to new title as well (but likely provisional vs permanent) Good Luck.

Wow, thank you for this.

Assistant Transit Management Analyst 2 (OA – Represented by TWU) Min: $75,475 – Max: $ 84,060

Staff Analyst II (OA – Represented by TWU): Min: $75,475 – Max: $84,060

I find it quite interesting that these two would have the same pay scale. I just assumed management would pay more.  I would think one would hate to get a promotion and have the same pay. That's crazy.  I could only imagine salary negotiations.
