MTR Admiralty Posted November 28, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 28, 2008 Just to upload them directly: Nice. The station looks a bit dim though. Seemingly there aren't any shots of the Whitehall Street transfer passageway.

MTR Admiralty Posted November 28, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 28, 2008 I THINK, SFT is getting platform screen doors. The scaffolding above the edge of the platform looks like the preparation for the doors.
Kexpress Posted November 28, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted November 28, 2008 In December (2008) the new South Ferry will open and it has straight platforms and the old South Ferry Loop will be replaced by the New South Ferry Station. The New South Ferry will open on 12/21/08.

TransitGuy Posted November 28, 2008 Share #8 Posted November 28, 2008 Cool photos, looks great. But I hate those HEET gates. Why can't they stick to turnstiles?
7LineFan Posted November 29, 2008 Share #9 Posted November 29, 2008 Cool photos, looks great. But I hate those HEET gates. Why can't they stick to turnstiles? People jump turnstiles. They can't jump HEETs.
Radioguy Posted November 29, 2008 Share #10 Posted November 29, 2008 HEETs are an impediment to evacuation, though. If there's a need for an emergency evacuation of the station, they can cost lives.

metsfan Posted November 29, 2008 Share #12 Posted November 29, 2008 It isn't getting platform screen doors. The floor is done, and the scaffolding is for installing the lighting & ductwork. - A
DOB2RTO Posted November 29, 2008 Share #13 Posted November 29, 2008 The new signals are up and running, so now the for now gets a bottom yellow, for the old loop south of Rector S/B, and another bottom yellow south of Rector N/B. I was on that line yesterday, and the wood walls are now torn down. The punch box is also up and running. Money has been put back on the , so the oldies are coming back, bumping other oldies already there. A break at each end, no more round and round........... mark1447 Posted November 29, 2008 Share #15 Posted November 29, 2008 Is this station gonna have HEET exclusively? and what do u mean Screen doors? Meaning you can see through the station?
DOB2RTO Posted November 29, 2008 Share #16 Posted November 29, 2008 Sounds like it'll be nice for train crews having a chambers style station to chill for a few minutes. - A Yes, so the will be the line us A Div rookies will see alot of. They usually kept rookies on the and , but the is now a contender with the big boys once again. Guess I better get my ears tuned for the R142A, and that propulsion, for nearly 2 hrs, on 3 trips. I am going to hear it in my sleep, and when I wake up...........

MTR Admiralty Posted November 29, 2008 Share #18 Posted November 29, 2008 Ugh, I hope they don't that just destroys my railfanning pictures! I doubt they would. They would prevent you from falling off! If those doors are going to be installed at the station, I hope they are not jacked up like the CBTC and be another epic technological fail. Paul P Posted November 29, 2008 Share #19 Posted November 29, 2008 They won't you will still able to take pictures/record even if it has screen doors. I know, what I mean is you can't clearly see the train in the station with those doors, but I am sure it's not happening. You know the hasn't gotten that far yet. You know the hasn't gotten that far yet. I THINK they are. I've seen platform screen door installation myself when I was riding the subway line 1 in Guangzhou, China. They were busy installing PSDs at some stations. The PSD installation is the same in Hong Kong. Based on these pictures, it does seem that they are installing the doors. Paul P Posted November 29, 2008 Share #21 Posted November 29, 2008 I would think the scaffolding is there for some other use, maybe lighting?

MTR Admiralty Posted November 29, 2008 Share #24 Posted November 29, 2008 Wow, that is so fast. I hope I still can get some pix of the Old South Ferry Station before the first (1)/(9) train goes in that new station. ! *Mind me saying train because it's me and I am having it my way!* IT'S JUST THE TRAIN.
