Middletown Santa Train To Operate Saturday, 12/13

The annual Santa Train sponsored by Middletown Township will be operating Saturday, December 13th. If past operating practice holds true, the train will run south (railroad direction west) to Bay Head before returning to Middletown Station. The special's consist is created by combining two sets of diesel powered equipment so it is a long train with a unit positioned at each end.

 

Two round trips are scheduled. The first departs Middletown at 10 and the second at 1 o'clock. I'll be riding the first run with my son and father.

The towns of Little Silver and Red Bank ran a train similar to that for the tree lighting ceremony in Red Bank NJ.

The Santa special ran today without a hitch. The consist was twelve cars bracketed by the 4216 and 4218...quite an impressive train!

 

A great time was had by all on board!

I saw that train heading through Little Silver while I was on my way back fro the Freehold Santa train that Conrail did today.
