Hey guys. I'm going through my new hire stuff and came across it. I know the safety sensitive positions like Engineer and Conductor is unlikely to be approved. I'm not in one of those jobs just a cleaner at a station. Is that considered safety sensitive too? I would assume not but I'm not sure. I was never told to fill one out so I'm unsure what to do in this situation.

Verbally I was told the job I already had was ok before I even started as the schedule is very flexible to the point where I switch to whatever I desire. But I know when dealing with a large organization that doesn't mean much.

So if I now go to my supervisor or whoever I have to inform and submit it now would that look bad since I've already started at MNRR? I'm unsure what to do here advice need plz 😭

This is a question that should be raised to your union. It’s better to submit it and have it denied (and obviously stop working the second job) than to not do it and they find out.

Thanks for the response. That's the thing..No one showed up to orientation from my union.. I'm TCU. And I only know that because one of my classmates that already works for the company told me. How do I even contact the union?

Sorry if it's a bother but everyone I ask in person has any answers for me..they seem to be pushing the buck down to the next guy. The only person I haven't asked is my supervisor who I will meet probably on Monday 😑. I'm just trying to do things the right way here. And I don't even know what that is yet. Thanks again for the help.

While in training it is IMPERATIVE that you stop working your second job. I’m not familiar with your union as we have a different one, but the code of ethics applies to all companies under the MTA. Fill out the application for dual employment and send it to whoever sent you the new hire paperwork.

I've read that section of the code of ethics I was given. And my outside activity checks all the boxes. I do there exactly what I do here porter tasks (I think that's part of the reason I was hired, they wanted someone with experience in that area) that's it. MTA will be the priority, the activity I can change to whatever I desire as I said earlier my schedule is of my own choice. I just find it weird that no one has even asked me about it. I found out on my own reading the book I was given.

After safety training I was told to report to my job assignment. Unless I have some OJT/I I think my training is done.

Thanks for the response. I'm getting more information here than asking anyone in person..  -_-
