MTR Admiralty Posted January 17, 2009 Share #51 Posted January 17, 2009 Nonsense? What nonsense? You, me, MTR are all endless nonsense people. Nonsense? What nonsense? You, me, 7LineFan are all endless nonsense people. And I agree with the fence installation, but does the have 8-10 cars on Weekday or Rush Hours? Don't say people are offending you, because right now, it seems that 7LineFan and I are being insulted with your post. You tell me, how can you fit 10 75 footers in a station that is around 615 feet long?

You tell me, how can you fit 10 75 footers in a station that is around 615 feet long? Agree. To add on to that, R46s come in four car sets. Don't know how you're gonna hook up 10 of them, unless you have an extra A-A or A-B pair.

SubwayGuy Posted January 18, 2009 Share #54 Posted January 18, 2009 There are such pairs since they managed 6 cars per train, no? there is one AB pair and a bunch of AA pairs, so yes it's possible.
R32 3348 Posted January 18, 2009 Share #55 Posted January 18, 2009 It only has 6 cars during rush hours It has four cars at all times. Why the hell does every single thread involving AWWang turn into some random flamewar involving Picard from Star Trek and Wang unable to comprehend ANYTHING that anyone is saying? MTR Admiralty Posted January 18, 2009 Share #56 Posted January 18, 2009 there is one AB pair and a bunch of AA pairs, so yes it's possible. It is possible, but it is technically infeasible to run 10 car trains in service, eh? Especially on the G.

7LineFan Posted January 18, 2009 Share #58 Posted January 18, 2009 AA pair is possible... AB is awkward if they are doing 10 cars... Not just possible. They have those hookups. But not to any 10 car train. I a pretty sure it is possible. Possible, not practical in any way. They won't fit!

7LineFan Posted January 18, 2009 Share #60 Posted January 18, 2009 Yeah, would be a problem in the tunnels... Oh, no, they'll fit in the tunnels. I meant in the stations they won't platform all ten cars.

MTR Admiralty Posted January 18, 2009 Share #62 Posted January 18, 2009 Possible, not practical in any way. They won't fit! Especially since IND/BMT stations could fit only 600 feet long trains.
MTR Admiralty Posted January 18, 2009 Share #63 Posted January 18, 2009 Oh great, I was to say station... It won't fit in stations or in curved tunnels (depending on the curve). But of course, it will have no problem on straight track.

MTR Admiralty Posted January 18, 2009 Share #65 Posted January 18, 2009 Agreed... Well, it would fit but it would not allow passengers to reach the station in a curved tunnel (depending on the curve). And 75 footer (the space between cars) will not allow passengers through too... The tunnels could fit 8 75 footers, okay. But however, could it fit a 750 foot train and allow to turn efficiently without affecting the travel times??? MTR Admiralty Posted January 18, 2009 Share #67 Posted January 18, 2009 Well, it could fit 7500 foot (except IRT and Eastern Division) if it could fit 8 75 footers! It just cannot handle 1 80 footers... HUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH? 7500 FOOT TRAINS? COME ON. GIVE ME A BREAK HERE. That's longer than a MILE.

MTR Admiralty Posted January 18, 2009 Share #69 Posted January 18, 2009 Sure it can fit, I'll give you a break... But the tunnel will fit a 100 75-footers... But not 1 80-footer or scratch the tunnel wall and train is broken... Go ahead, show to everyone of us that a mile long subway train could fit through a curve without causing delays en route. 7LineFan Posted January 18, 2009 Share #70 Posted January 18, 2009 A train over a mile long? That's several stations long (including tunnel)! Why would you want one?
MTR Admiralty Posted January 18, 2009 Share #71 Posted January 18, 2009 A train over a mile long? That's several stations long (including tunnel)! Why would you want one? It's not feasible. Come on... a 7500 foot train.
SubwayGuy Posted January 19, 2009 Share #72 Posted January 19, 2009 It is possible, but it is technically infeasible to run 10 car trains in service, eh? Especially on the G. Yep...not possible feasibly. The cars individually would clear the loading gauge of the tunnels and platform but remember. -The stop markers are placed in stations assuming certain train lengths. -The conductor's boards are placed in stations so that a C/R will be on the board when the train stops at the appropriate marker. -Most platforms will not fit a 750 foot train. Thus you will have doors (and sometimes whole cars) in the tunnel. -The "resume speed" signage and relay position markers are placed in tunnels assuming certain train lengths. -A longer train means it will take longer to clear curves, which will slow down train operation. That means longer runs, employees on the clock more = increased costs. That 7 hour 55 minute job just turned into a >8 hour job which means Overtime so lots of issues...
