None of the current PS3 SKUs have PS2 backwards compatibility. Only the old 20GB, 60GB, 80GB models had it. The models in production now don't have it.

Yes and No, some games (I am not sure which) can be played in the PS3 some cannot... Like XBox games on the XBox 360...

But, now it may have a problem...

No. You're wrong. The PS3 systems that do have PS2 backwards compatibility play all PS2 games. It's not like the 360 and it's selective software backwards compatibility in regards to backwards compatibility on Xbox games.

I said 'now' it may have a problem' which stand for it may not have Back-Ward compatibility... And I heard select games can be played in those that have... Is that true? Blame Circuit City if it is wrong...

The salesperson at Circuit City must have been yanking your chain. All PS3 models now don't have any sort of PS2 backwards compatibility. Only backwards compatibility it still has is with old PlayStation 1 games.

Only the models that were mentioned before that had some sort of PS2 software/hardware can play games. All of the new production models have the PS2 software/hardware taken out, therefore making it the PS3 not able AT ALL to play PS2 games.

Sony should release a Service Pack or a major Update for PS3 to offer that. PS1 has backward compatibility for PS2/PS2 Online
