Y2Julio Posted January 8, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2009 So I was riding on the today going home and I got on a R46, Car # 5658 and It had a bunch of blue seats. I'm not sure if the rest of the train had blue seats too. It was mixed with the normal orange/yellow seats.
mark1447 Posted January 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 9, 2009 i think the adding of blue seats is taking way to long. Soon the R46 will retiree.. I mean the R62A on the has just a few seats like that, damn...

KTrainExp Posted January 11, 2009 Share #14 Posted January 11, 2009 I'm not sure if it also applies to the R46s, but the R62/R62As with the blue seats seem to have the keyhole to manually open the doors on the chair instead of the little spot where they put the No Smoking Stickers. R32 3348 Posted January 11, 2009 Share #15 Posted January 11, 2009 There's way too many SMSed R46s to make a list. At least 1/3 to 1/2 of them have been SMSed so far. The Blue seats are only put on cars where the seats need to be replaced. Same with the black floors - you can be on an SMSed R46 that still has the yellow floor. You will know you are on an SMSed R46 though if the windows have the mylar screens on them. They're also getting new HVAC units.

R32 3348 Posted January 11, 2009 Share #17 Posted January 11, 2009 It's starting to become more common now. You'll usually see a train with a pair of non-SMSed cars with a pair of SMSed ones.

Can someone brief me on why the seats are blue? Possibly because they changed the Red/Orange/Yellow ones since some are broken and have dents, nicks, dings and scratches... No, why are the seats blue instead of some other color, not why they're there is what Tbirdbassist's asking. The color of the new seats looks like the benches on the NTTs. Maybe that's why. RokuSix Posted January 14, 2009 Share #24 Posted January 14, 2009 And blue is a good, generic color as opposed to construction orange. Anyway, hasn't the process been going on for a few years?

IIRC, its only recently (as recent as like 6 months), it is done in coordination with the SMS thing
