Artics on the B82

One of my fellow B/Os live in Brooklyn and said he seen an artic bus out there (I forget where). Believe me when I tell you this. Artics will be coming to Brooklyn. When I don't know, but if they are in Queens they will be in Brooklyn. Land size Queens is larger. Populationsize, Brooklyn is the largest, unless that changed. Lord knows the B41 also needs them.

I can't wait to see artics in Brooklyn, The only problem the B82 might have is that between Ocean ave. and Ocean pkwy. it is one lane in each direction and there is alot of double parked cars.

I don't know much about buses. What's good/bad about the artics?

The good is they hold more (120). The bad is they sometimes (not always) increase the headway, so it can be a longer wait for a bus on an artic line. The do have longer dwell times (how long it is loading and unloading at a stop) than a standard bus, so the schedules are increased. They don't have a 3rd door here in NYC, which would help with decreasing dwell times.

The M15 runs artics, and they have a 3 minute headway, during the rush on the M15 Limited. The Bx5 which runs them also have 4 minute headways during the rush, from White Plains Road to West Farms Road. These are better than some standard line headways.

If the B82 had 3 minute headways it wouldn't need artics.

Personally I think the B6 should get them (artics) before the B82 does.... from what I depict, those buses (along the B82 route) don't come frequent enough... B6's tend to come like wildfire & those bad boys still be packed to the gills...

82 isn't as bad people make it...

I think it's worse... lol.... it's a long, drawn-out route... ridership iddn't all that great b/w CI & the Kings Hwy station (B/Q).... I believe that was the reason they got rid of the old B5 (and that didn't even head out to Stillwell av)....
