I live by the Q3 and thats based out of Jamaica Depot and I've rode the best RTS NovaBus on the Q3!

Manhattan Best : MJQ. Worst : 100th Street Depot, MTV comes in 2nd Queens I would say its pretty much a tie between Jamaica and Queens Village, worst is Stengel. The Vs there are pretty much the scrap heap of Queens, with slight recovery thanks to Castleton, Yukon & The Bronx donating the 6000s

Jamaica Depot is way better than Casey Stengal Depot. With Casey Stengal, you have Vs whining, screeching, leaking, and the AC on those buses just suck from that depot. With Jamaica Depot you can get on a Nova in the summer time and still get a fast, and comfortable ride because the engine is good, and the AC is running hard. Castleton is better than Yukon actually, well before the NGs but I don't know how they are now. Spring Creek is better than Flatbush though Flatbush ain't bad. Eastchester Depot is much better than West Farms Depot in terms of maintenance and cleanliness of buses. Yonkers too. Also LaGuardia is terrible too, I like Orion VIIs but LaGuardia is so bad at taking care of buses I'd rather walk. 100th Street Depot is the worst, though they do run grueling routes. Orion 27 Posted January 23, 2009 Share #12 Posted January 23, 2009 Jackie Gleason is aiight. They do not maintain thier VIIs anywhere near as good as thier C40LFs and V CNGs I'll tell you that.
Q43 Floral Park 39 Posted January 23, 2009 Share #13 Posted January 23, 2009 Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Danger hiptop 4.7; U; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050920) Just wanted to see what you guys think about our bus systemWhat depot do you think keep the best looking buses and what keep the worst Here is my take The Bronx The best West Farms and the worst Kingsbridge Queens The best Casey Stengle the worst Jamaica Okay with the Bronx worst, its a tie between KB and GH. GH's buses are garbage and it shows, i.e. Gaping wholes in buses. On the other hand KB's buses generally look fine but internally are a mess. If you manage to get on a KB bus and the B/O doesn't have to restart the bus because of the kneeler, the doors, the wheelchair lift or the bus bottoming out you're extremely lucky. The problem is that all of KB's buses are hand me downs from other depots espeically CAS. Even after they rehab buses something else will go wrong. KB can improve but they need new buses to do so. As for Queens CS is the worst. Jamaica is the best IMO. CS is bad for one of the same reasons that KB and Gh are: the 100-600 O5s. QV used to be horrible with the O7s but they've been fixing them up. trainfan22 2,195 Posted January 24, 2009 Share #14 Posted January 24, 2009 Whats so good about Ulmer park their MCI's?(I never rode them...) Some of their RTS's is meh IMO, one of those nice 94XX RTS that came from yukon already has really loud and squeaky brakes. I'd say maybe their buses are just too damn old most of their RTS's are 12 years old I guess theres only so much they can do with those buses once thier that old. jacsnyy 1 Posted January 24, 2009 Share #15 Posted January 24, 2009 I personally never have liked Ulmer Park, mostly cause their drivers seem overly nasty. They're the ONLY depot I know of whose drivers stop you for using your student card on a holiday. I am a big Flatbush fan, and Jackie Gleason is somewhere in the middle for me, but they dominate my neighborhood. (Park Slope)
Q25toJamaica 9 Posted January 24, 2009 Share #16 Posted January 24, 2009 Best of Queens is College Point and the worst is Casey Stengel. LGA's maintenance isn't that good but their fleet gets bonus points.
RokuSix 3 Posted January 24, 2009 Share #17 Posted January 24, 2009 I'm particular to Gun Hill--that's my home base. Eastchester just scares me, it's a bus graveyard.

Soem are good, but most are needing repair or even replacement. I personally never have liked Ulmer Park, mostly cause their drivers seem overly nasty. ECH is the only place w/ space, it's a really nice depot. Gun Hill was a good depot untill the O5's got there. I remember when GH opened w/ new 8000's & old 13 & 2500's. GH was cool when they had the Blitz & 8000's at the same time(NYCT)

Orion 27 Posted January 24, 2009 Share #21 Posted January 24, 2009 Okay with the Bronx worst, its a tie between KB and GH. GH's buses are garbage and it shows, i.e. Gaping wholes in buses.Gaping holes don't bother me, the 100 series has these gaping holes but they're close to retiring anyways, and boy they are starting to repaint older Artics much faster! Thier 6000s are awesome and so are thier Artics, I ride them everyday and 6114 (ex-CAS) is one of the only 6000s to ever disappoint me. The Artics that used to screech have been fixed except 5425 and 5325. @ TrainFan22: Just get 2134, 2206, 2876, and you will have the best rides of your life. Those buses are completely ungoverned and a few more are too but those listed got mad power along with top speed. They also got some 1900 that is mad fast too, it was going uphill in 4th gear doing 60-65MPH still pushing for more! Ohh and thier RTS are no joke, you need to ride some more of them with the right driver, buses like 9403, 8888, and 9400 are freaking rockets. There's many many more, Ulmer Park is known for having the Ultimate RTS fleet.
DOB2RTO 29 Posted January 26, 2009 Share #22 Posted January 26, 2009 For the Bronx (NYCTA only), I agree. Best is WF worst is KB. GH is in the running for the worst though......
