7LineFan Posted February 8, 2009 Share #28 Posted February 8, 2009 the redbirds had lots of problems.I hate the redbirds. The R62/R62A is better then those ugly redbirds.:tup::tup: That's the same thing you said. Give me specific reasons.
R160E Posted February 8, 2009 Share #29 Posted February 8, 2009 Which is the better car...the redbirds of the 90's or the mighty R62? the redbirds of the 90,s were better.
7LineFan Posted February 9, 2009 Share #30 Posted February 9, 2009 lights flicker too muchno AC. does a crappy job nightmare train bad flashbacks They did have A/C; most of them had. The lights only flickered at a gap in the third rail.
AA 8th Avenue Posted February 9, 2009 Share #31 Posted February 9, 2009 Flickered too much??? Afraid of the dark... I like room on trains not to feel like an overgrown giant in a subway car. Im 6'3" 240lbs and I don't get much room on an overcrowded R62/A On a 142 it's better. Please flickered too much give me a practical reason or a technical one not some some "childish" answer... If you grew up with those trains you either love them or you don't bottom line. I know there's a lot of young ones in this forum trying to sound big or like they know everything but gentlemen lets be serious act your ages please! This place is starting to become pathetic... via White Plains Road Posted February 9, 2009 Share #32 Posted February 9, 2009 I loved when the Redbirds went over a 3rd rail gap and the lights flicker off and on....man that made me loved the Redbirds even more....thats the unique thing about the Redbirds over the other subway cars

kngmn Posted February 12, 2009 Share #35 Posted February 12, 2009 but the R62A singles #1901 - #2155 is my favorite car( better than 5 car unit) than #1301 - #1625 , #1651 - #1900 , #2156 - #2475 is MK (morrison knudsen is still in business)? if so morrison knudsen could rebuild R62's. and dont change the seat. leave the bucket seat where it is. if R62A dont get rebuilded in 2010 - 2012. the train condition that now is bad condtion and like it reminded me that in the 1970's and 1980's when the redbird ( the whole car got vandalize and girfatti) whicdh company would you perfer R62A were to be rebuilded: coney island overhaul shop 207 street overhaul shop general eletric rail company rebuilder next stop is utica avenue. Urbanfortitude Posted February 18, 2009 Share #38 Posted February 18, 2009 Redbirds...I was really upset when I came back to NYC to find out they no longer were on the lines. And I freak out when i see one randomly on the lines (even tho I know they're just attached to work cars).
