Possible Delays Departing New York Penn Station this Evening

Unfortunately, certain trains may experience delays of 15-30 minutes departing New York this evening. The problem is due to an Amtrak overhead wire problem between Sunnyside Yard (where many trains are stored during midday hours) and Penn Station. This overhead wire problem is not related to this morning’s disruption, which was located west of the station.

This evening’s delays are expected to impact those trains whose equipment comes from Sunnyside Yard. Some trains that “turn” in the station will depart on time. In addition, some trains may need to be combined or cancelled.

We will send additional information about specific trains as it is known. This information will be posted to njtransit.com and transmitted to My Transit subscribers based on the trips you have selected.

We know this has been a challenging day in terms of service. Please be assured that we will do everything possible to minimize delays and keep you informed as we work our way through the evening commute.

If you have questions or comments, please contact NJ TRANSIT Customer Service at (973) 275-5555.
