Forest Glen Posted February 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2009 A wheelchair-bound LIRR passenger is suing the LIRR after a callous employee said that a "wheelchair patient" was causing a delay. The LIRR uses bridge plates (wide pieces of metal) to help wheelchairs cross the gap between the train and the platform. Apparently there was a problem as Anthony Fiaggani was crossing the plate at the Islip station. The crew of the train got annoyed and made the "wheelchair patient" comment. Fiaggani is suing the LIRR for drawing unwanted attention to him. Was it a mean thing to say? Yep. Does he deserve millions because of this incident? Nope. No way I'm paying an extra dollar for a peak ticket because he got his feeling hurt. An apology and a lifetime LIRR pass is fair compensation. http://www.lohud.com/article/20090205/NEWS/902050470
