I passed the test with a 96. something and have a list # of 2009 . Is that any good or should I just retest(D) They called roughly 3,000 applicants from the previous exam, that does not mean that they will call that amount with this exam and should only be used as a rough indicator. primomjr78 Posted September 30, 2009 Share #505 Posted September 30, 2009 Juanita, you have to expect at least a 2-3 year waiting period from now until hire.
primomjr78 Posted October 7, 2009 Share #506 Posted October 7, 2009 Hey All, I spoke to NYC Transit today and they told me the hiring is very slow for the CR Title. They only hired 18 people so far from the promotional list and at this rate the list wont be exhausted until Dec 2010. Which means we all have a long wait. My list # 2051 and they told me I have about a 3 year wait from the OC list establishment which will be around 2011 so 2014 will be the hiring date . So I am looking at a 5 year wait to be called. Y2Julio Posted October 7, 2009 Share #507 Posted October 7, 2009 This is why you should just apply for the MTA and forget about it. Just act like you never applied for it and go on with your merry life and working your current job or applying for another job if you're unemployed. Like that guy that sells that rotisserie chicken cooker on TV, "Just set it and forget it".

Y2Julio Posted October 7, 2009 Share #509 Posted October 7, 2009 So many times I've felt like telling some of my co-workers off and leaving but then I remember that the MTA process is slow and long and I quickly shut up. lol

Locomotion69 Posted October 7, 2009 Share #511 Posted October 7, 2009 yeah I wish I can leave too! I hate my job. With your low list number on exam 8006 you will be in the 1st class once they start calling early next year.

Tricknologist Posted October 9, 2009 Share #520 Posted October 9, 2009 This is why you should just apply for the MTA and forget about it. I wouldn't go that far and say to just forget about it. I did the same exact thing with that advice with another test within the MTA(not for track worker and not for the NYCTA period). My list # was excellent(under 70) and I decided to forget because on average it takes a long time to get the list established, especially with this agency. Time passes and nothing. So I snoop around for info to find out that the position I applied for has gone through 2 training sessions already with people who's list numbers were a few hundred above mine. Called to see what the hell went wrong and they said they sent me the pre-employment packet. Never received it. In not sending them the packet that I never received, they removed me from the list. Had to be reinstated and patiently waiting, and calling, to see what's moving. Moral of the story, don't just "forget" about it. Peek and seek once in a while to see what's going on, especially if you have a good list number. It'll bite you in the ass like it did to me. It is what it is... I meant more in the sense of checking on it every week/month. Like every other month should be fine. Once it gets near your number then start checking often. Tricknologist Posted October 9, 2009 Share #522 Posted October 9, 2009 I meant more in the sense of checking on it every week/month. Like every other month should be fine. Once it gets near your number then start checking often. I believe that's what you meant. My unfortunate experience was for those new to the whole civil service process who might take it too literally and will actually forget about it and never check, regardless of test taken. primomjr78 Posted October 9, 2009 Share #523 Posted October 9, 2009 people should check once a month on average you never know. My friend was skipped for station agent his list # was 100.he called to see what happened he never got anything in the mail. He called back and got reinstated the list expired 2 weeks later and they hired like 600 agents from that list.
