kngmn Posted February 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 9, 2009 is B , D line going to recieve new R160's. why i said that was : A / C line going to retire R32 / R38 / R40slant soon.? N/Q/W have to many R160's. will it be better if #9558 - #9592 go to B / D line ( concourse yard) N / Q / W line give away (R68A) #5001 - #5200 , R68) #2500 - #2608 go to A/C line bronx riders will like to see if R160 run on D line. Y2Julio Posted February 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 9, 2009 Probably not. The R68s are rather new compared to the other cars that are being replaced by the R160.
R160E Posted February 9, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 9, 2009 Probably not. The R68s are rather new compared to the other cars that are being replaced by the R160. that seems too hard to believe in a way.
Fresh Pond Posted February 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted February 9, 2009 that seems too hard to believe in a way. but think about it. The R68/68A is about 25 years old. Compared to the ones that are getting retired that are pushing 40+
R421969 Posted February 9, 2009 Share #5 Posted February 9, 2009 Besides the look of rust and the dirtier seats on the 44/46 compared to the 68s the trains mostly look timeless to me, i remember when i wasnt into subway cars i rode the R42 everyday and i thought they were from the 80's. when i found out they made their debut waaaay back in '1969 i was shocked. fordhamkid7721 Posted February 9, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 9, 2009 If they took 68s off the to tell the truth I'd be crushed. I grew up with the 68s and they always proven reliable to me, I plan to become a t/o when I grow up and I won't most likely be able to operate a 32 in revenue service so the 68 is the runner-up. They still got some years on them, they're not going anywhere soon at least I hope not.
R44 5278 Posted February 10, 2009 Share #7 Posted February 10, 2009 Are you one of the people used to bucket seats? 'Cause the subway would never be the same with the NTTs having hard benches. I would always love the R44s for their smooth ride and that they were the first to have bucket seats.
