The Map, 1998

I noticed something a little chunkier in the mail today, and it was for me. It happens to be a version of The Map from 1998, sent to me by my grandfather. The collection begins...

ahh the 1998 map. Awesome map. Ya, ive started my map collection about 8 years ago. I purchase a lot of mid 70s till mid 90's maps on ebay with routes that cease to exist in todays system. Very interesting to view how service changed so much and so many times over the past 3 decades...

The only problem I find with collecting them is that despite the unbelievable amount of maps in circulation at the time, there are near none available today. The old maps are great though, it's a great way to see what happens to it. I only hope to find more around... eBay you say...

I think the very first "The Map" still had the C going to the Bronx. I gotta get my hands on that one.

And you can still see evidence of it at the 167th Street station. :D

 

and on a platform sign on the lower level at 145 Street.

Don't revive old threads. If there hasn't been a post in a while, don't post in it.

 

The old system used to have a message at the top of old threads that told people to refrain from posting in them. I wonder if that can be added on IP.B...
