Is it possible to get a real NYC subway car. I have read they throw them in the ocean, or pay to have them scrapped. Do they try to sell them?

I believe there was a similar thread made about this. I know parts of the trains, like doors and horns are sold. But a car? Talk to the MTA people.

Good luck but be advised that because of asbestos contained within many of the cars currently being retired, the MTA will likely not sell the car directly to you. However if you think you have the money, a small stretch of track, and more importantly the space (and equally importantly some basic maintenance skills) and you think you can do it, it can't hurt to try and if that's true best of luck...

You can buy a subway car, depends on the price over $90, 000 [NTTs a lot more]

 

But could cause you to pay more for your land. I dunno
