Harry Posted June 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 20, 2007 I read that the Astoria line used to be IRT-size operation and was converted to BMT-size right after the World War II. This was done by cutting back the platform edges to fit the wider BMT cars.

R1Toasty Posted August 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 21, 2007 Hmmm, that sounds odd, but I can't rule anything out here.
Brighton Local Posted August 21, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 21, 2007 and to my knowledge the flushing line used to be a BMT route. technically I learned that a BMT, 60 or 75' foot train CAN travel via FLUSHING EXPRESS up until the beginning of the Woodside-61st St Station. PATCOman Posted August 21, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 21, 2007 Yup but it has to use the north side of Queensboro Plaza and switch to the Flushing line tracks north of QP
