Old Looks in NYC

Just curious, but does anyone know when the last Old Look was retired in New York City (counting both (NYCT) and PBLs)? I've always wondered, but never been able to pin down when.

Probably somewhat recently, as some bus lines favor older models for the lower purchase cost.

1995 for . (5227 was one of the last, and a couple of 9000 Flxibles may have been around as well).

PBL's might have been right before that when the 1994 TMCls came in.. I remember riding one (actually bought from somewhere else) c'93, and after the new batch of RTS's came in on all the private companies, you stopped seeing a lot of that pre-1985 stuff.

Actually, 5227 was a New Look.

Oh man! I thought it said "New Looks".B)

From what I read somewhere, the last (NYCT) old look ran in 1971. (I vaguely remember them from somewhere, but not sure where. I was real young, and they were already extremely rare).

 

Private lines, I would not know.

NYCTA used old looks from 1958 until 1973 maybe until early '74. I would say by '79 the private lines of NYC had ceased using them.
