Shortline Bus Posted August 30, 2009 Author Share #426 Posted August 30, 2009 Its kinda like releasing someone from your team except it was kinda like a trade 3 prospects for Kazmir to save $$$ which the Rays did.He is eligible to play in the post season when it starts b\c the transaction happened b4 Sept1. So it basically release a player and if any team picks him up ie the Angels w/ Kazmir, the Angels take over the leftover of Kazmir contract right?

Shortline Bus Posted August 30, 2009 Author Share #429 Posted August 30, 2009 Just watched earlier today (8/30/09)the Little League world series. The 2009 LL world champions is San Diego(Chula Vista)Ca beating Tawian 6-3. After a 20-plus year period in which either Tawaian or Mexico won the LL world series most of the time, in past decade the US has domnated the series. There is a kid on the Chula Vista team (Rameiez is his name no relation to Manny lol)man he looks 18 years old instead of 12 as he about 6ft 2 inches tall 200 ibs. Wow Also a congrats to the Staten Island LL team that made it to the US semifinals. Anyone else watched the LL?

I saw some of the game, and California's Double Play in the top of the 5th was great and got them out of a bases loaded jam.

Shortline Bus Posted August 31, 2009 Author Share #432 Posted August 31, 2009 *cough*steroids. You never know these days. Sad to say until he proven clean in this era, that thought is not far fetched either. Remember he Danny Almont scandal about 8-10 years ago when he was in the LL World series as a 'ringer' at 14 years old?
Grand Concourse Posted August 31, 2009 Share #433 Posted August 31, 2009 Sad to say until he proven clean in this era, that thought is not far fetched either. Remember he Danny Almont scandal about 8-10 years ago when he was in the LL World series as a 'ringer' at 14 years old? I wouldn't say he looks that much older, but it does raise some questions about the team ala Almonte and that team. And that would be a shame if it's found out he was too old for the team. EE Broadway Local Posted September 2, 2009 Share #434 Posted September 2, 2009 Wouldn't this be something if Matt Holliday, John Smoltz and the Saint Louis Cardinals meet Jason Marquis, Jason Giambi and the Colorado Rockies in the post season? The Cardinals are 78-55 with a 10.5 game lead in the Central Division and the Rockies are 73-59 with a 1 game lead in the National League Wild Card race. Question: What happened to the Royals? They had minor success in 2003 when they finished 83-79 and last season they appeared to improving (though they finished 75-87). I figured in March they might close out this decade with maybe an 81-81. 1989 was the last season the Royals won more than 85 games. The Pirates - seventeen consecutive losing seasons and thirty seasons since their last World Series appearance. The Orioles - eleven consecutive losing seasons and twenty-six seasons since their last World Series appearance. The Reds - (maybe) eight consecutive losing seasons and nineteen seasons since their last World Series appearance. The Cubs - (possibly) sixty-four seasons since their last World Series appearance and one hundred-one seasons since their last World Seires win. At least the Cubs reached the National League Championship Series as recently as 2003. Chicago has their only championship since 1917 thanks to the White Sox in 2005. The Mariners, Rangers and Expos/Nationals - no World Series appearances. The Giants - no San Francisco championship (last 1954 in New York City). EE Broadway Local Posted September 23, 2009 Share #435 Posted September 23, 2009 It's a beautiful night. The Yankees (96-56) come back to defeat the Angels (90-61) 6-5 in the ninth with Super Mo pitching. He got the out and Jorge caught the Angel trying to steal second to begin the bottom of the ninth; The Royals defeat the Red Sox (89-60) 5-1 and The Athletics defeat the Rangers (82-68) 9-1 and so the Yankees win for the first time since 2007. With a six game lead over the Red Sox, the Yankees can still win their first A.L. East title since 2006 and with a five and a half game lead over the Angels they can win home field advantage for the new Stadium. With four more wins, they will win 100 gqmes for the first time since 2004. With an average of only ten games remaining tis season, it's beginning to appear four teams will not make it back (the Rays, White Sox, Cubs and Brewers) and the four new teams will be the Yankees, Tigers (or Twins), Cardinals and Rockies. The Red Sox fall to 37-39 on the road. Joe Torre's Dodgers win their 91st game and are 91-60. Congratulations to The Yankees and The Captain on qualifying for the postseason for the fourteenth time in fifteen seasons!

Yeah, that was a good game last night, a long one but worth watching till the very end(1:45am). Should be another good one today with Burnett vs Kazmir, did you know that A.J has given up 24 taters so far this season?
EE Broadway Local Posted September 26, 2009 Share #437 Posted September 26, 2009 The Yankees win their 98th game of the season 9-5 over the Red Sox (91-62) and increase their lead to six and a half games. The Red Sox fall to 39-40 on the road. The Yankees have eight games remaining and the Red Sox nine. The Rangers (84-69) stay alive defeating the Rays 8-3. The Tigers (82-71) lose to the White Sox 2-0 and the Twins (80-73) defeat the Royals 9-4. Both clubs have nine games remaining. At the worst, the Yankees will maintain a six games lead over the Angels (90-62). The Athletics were leading the Angels 2-0 in the top of the seventh. The Rockies (87-67) defeated the Cardinals (89-65) 2-1 and the Cubs (79-73) were leading the Giants (82-71) 2-0 in the top of the eighth. This looks to be an interesting week.
