bigrene18 Posted March 13, 2009 Share #26 Posted March 13, 2009 The only time the r27/30's ran on the 6th Ave line at the decade was on the oringal 6th Avenue-Grand St (S)between 1986-88. The Original Grand Street shuttle(S) was from Broadway–Lafayette Street and Grand Street, and that was from August to November of 1985. (( & terminated at West 4th Street) During the first phase of the Manhattan Bridge rehabilitation, from 1985 to 1988, the shuttle was extended to 57th Street/6th Avenue and was called the Sixth Avenue Shuttle, and the ( and terminated at 34th Street. By 1989, the entire BMT eastern divison was all R40s's(slants) R40's m'and R42's. There was never any R40 slant on the (J)/(Z). The only time there was a slant on the , it was because of the 9/11 attacks. It was extended full-time over the BMT Sea Beach Line to Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue, replacing the line, from September 17 until October 28, 2001. It used the (N)'s R40 slants based from the CI yard. The used to have R40 slants, but not in 1989 like you said. The used the slants from 1993 to 2001. bigrene18 Posted March 13, 2009 Share #27 Posted March 13, 2009 I am no 'rookie' either on NYC subway history either. I know more the route info history than the subway or bus fleet myself. Ok, man. I was just sayin'...

R10 2952 Posted March 20, 2009 Author Share #31 Posted March 20, 2009 There's no need to argue about such minor details. Anyway, thank you all for giving detailed information on not just the fleets the A was using at this time, but the fleets that some other lines were using. It helps me to picture what the lines were like back then.

SubwayGuy Posted March 20, 2009 Share #33 Posted March 20, 2009 probably until about 90-91 latest were there R9's they painted em green back when u still had (H)'s running out of Euclid which also used em Those were R10's, and they were retired by 89 or 90. Only some of them were painted green, those were the ones that lasted longest, painting them green was part of a "spruce up" program in the 80s. All AMUE braking schedule equipment (like the Arnines) was out of regular revenue service by the late 70's. Positive on all of that you can look it up and get back to me but that is the way it happened, heck I even rode one of those green R10's as a little kid... To the person posting about the R30's those stuck around till about 93...
Art Vandelay Posted March 20, 2009 Share #34 Posted March 20, 2009 The last R10s were retired in October of 1989 IIRC.
