the 7 is the BEST IRT Line and it uses the best IRT cars as well.

With the 7 you get perfect elevated train pics, a Rail fan window, frequent trains that come on time and not whenever they feel like, and the 7 train is very fast even on the Local.

I like the (5), but since it skips my stop during rush hours, I have to prefer the (2) over it. [My station is serviced by both the (2) and the (5).]

It's more of a subjective thing, rather than a real evaluation of the efficiency of the line, on my part.

Yeah the (5) is feeling kind of lonely there.

The 5 is to the MTA RTO, as Staten Island is to NYC.

The 5 is a supplemental dump for people on the Lexington Line. Staten Island is/was a supplemental dump for trash of the MAIN four Boroughs.

The 7, almost no contest. You have a very frequent line, and very diverse at that. The express service only serves 11 stops, making for a VERY fast express. It also uses very reliable cars that are in the process of getting a facelift (painted ends and new LCD indicators). Two setbacks are the Main Street terminal and the fact that if a local and an express leave Times Square back to back, the express won't pass the local until 46th Street.
