Ok I'll stop :confused::cry: Ya, it has happened before actually, back in the 50's. My girlfriend's dad knew a guy who worked for PRR before they merged. Guy was a mechanic & had to fix 2 PRR EMU trains both stuck in the north river tunnels (both for about 2 hours). while those were being worked on another train died out on a switch near new brunswick effectively blocking 2 tracks. They had to wait to move one of the trains in the tunnels to dispatch a work loco to go move the other train. - A
R44 5278 Posted March 14, 2009 Share #29 Posted March 14, 2009 That must've been a tremendous nightmare! I never knew that PRR ran MUs during the 50s. All I know is that after it merged with NY Central, they used Arrow Is for a while which were quite unreliable.

All I know is that after it merged with NY Central, they used Arrow Is for a while which were quite unreliable. PRR used some of the craziest locomotives & EMU's on the planet. There are photos of them all over teh interwebs. http://www.byz.org/~morven/Railway32/electric/index.html loco's http://www.byz.org/~morven/Railway32/units/index.html EMU's Some GIF's of them. - A
kaback9 Posted March 14, 2009 Share #31 Posted March 14, 2009 There are lots of stories of nightmares at NYP during the Pennsy years but they always got through them in great fashion.
