FlushingExpress 2 Posted March 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2009 Kris Datta's sheet says the N is fully R160s, but some of you are still reporting R68/68As on that line.
Maserati7200 31 Posted March 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 12, 2009 I saw one last week. But, before that, I haven't seen one since January. It's pretty rare.
Urbanfortitude 123 Posted March 12, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 12, 2009 The one I caught last night from Astoria was an R68. So yeah they're still on the just not very often.
Cait Sith 9,736 Posted March 12, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 12, 2009 R68/68As make their appearance on the . The is fully R160 at times, but the hippos make their appearances often,

MTR Admiralty 4 Posted March 13, 2009 Share #9 Posted March 13, 2009 I'll do the explanation: Supposedly, the N is supposed to be fully R160s. However, during rush hours, a R68A might be signed up as an N, for more service.
dustclee 0 Posted March 14, 2009 Share #10 Posted March 14, 2009 They're still on the once in a blue moon. I was lucky enough to catch R68A's for 4 rides on two different days earlier this week. And I'd have to disagree with MTR. Unless 3PM is considered rush hour, your explanation can't be true.

How about that?
MTR Admiralty 4 Posted March 14, 2009 Share #15 Posted March 14, 2009 I believe there is 3-4 R-68/68A in Service... The R-68/68A is almost dominating the Line for now, ! Can't be that many. They sign up 1, possibly 2 R68As when there is a need for more service on the N.

MTR Admiralty 4 Posted March 14, 2009 Share #17 Posted March 14, 2009 I saw 4 R68/R68A's on the this week W is going to turn into a fully R160 line soon. Those 4 hippos would probably be displaced.

And I'd have to disagree with MTR. Unless 3PM is considered rush hour, your explanation can't be true. Actually, rush hour begins at 3:30PM... the is fully R160s, but if there is a servicd gap at any time (which is rare), or during a weekend G.O., then an R68 may pop up on the line. I saw 4 R68/R68A's on the this week Some of the ones you saw were probably the saw. At least 6-7 sets out of 10 on the are R160, but I haven't been on the line in months. MattTrain 3,120 Posted March 15, 2009 Share #19 Posted March 15, 2009 Finding a R68 or R68A train on the is like finding a needle in a haystack. It's really hard to catch one these days. If anyone does catch one that's taking a break from looking at the FINDS on the R160 cars on the .

R68/68As are still quite common on the and they are not going to Jamaica. the is set to start using R68/68As soon and some of these cars from Coney Island may go to Pitkin to replace any old cars they still have.
