What is a typical day like as a train operator?

Being on the board was the thing I hated most about being extra. I was on the board every single wed. 5:00 @ parsons and every fri. 6:00 @ rock park. This was a guarantee like if I picked it for over 3 years.

No. Majority of jobs are picked with a few exceptions here & there.

When people cannot work them for ANY reason (Sick day, FMLA Day, Paid time off day, Medical Assessment day, Training Day, On the platform Awaiting discipline, whatever), the job is not canceled for the day, but needs to be covered by a person. The Crew Assignment office does that, places people in open jobs. That's where the XL, XXL & people working overtime get their assignments from, those 'un-staffed' jobs for that day.
