I think it would be interesting to see one in service, but

1) The MTA went crazy with the NG order, probably won't order any more standard-length buses for a long time.

2)The low floors have isssues with their suspensions, have problems not bottoming out on hills, and overall appear fragile. Also, the battery packs on San Fransisco's OGs have been burning out in half the time they are supposed to. Thus, we may see a repeat of the Grumman 870 fiasco after these buses have been in service for two or three years and then nobody will want hybrid low floors for 10-15 years.

3) Finally, until this happens or Orion goes out of business, all of our new 40ft buses will most likely come from Orion or Designline, thus ruling out the possibility of a low-floor RTS order.

Doubt it cuz the (MTA) is having an affair with Orion ATM. Possibly go back to their ex @ NovaBus...

NOVABus does not make RTS anymore,Millennium Transit Services now makes RTS.

http://www.millenniumtransitservices.com/

Also RTS is still produced.

RTS Legend,RTS Express,RTS Extreme, and RTS Evolution is produced.

You got it all wrong.

He pointed out the MTA latest love fair with Nova Bus' LFS artics.

The RTS is not in production anymore and that company MTS is in Chapter 11 in which I dont think they will get a chance to produce the RTS buses in the future with no capital in the company finance.

1. MTA needs new buses to replace the 15 to 18 year old buses. They will have to order again to completely wipe all the 40 ft high floor transit models (Orion V and RTS from the late 90s)

2. It is not the bus, its the damn NYC streets, especially Staten Island that needs to repave and fix some trouble spots.

3. There is no RTS low floor bus in the future. RTS is dead product right now.

Like he said, they're going through Chapter 11. They don't have the money to design or build experimental models such as making them low floored.

You must be under the rock. NJ Transit order of RTS is canceled, and that was the major order.

Millennium owes lots of money, they are heavily in debt. I really dont think they could build RTS anymore in this economy. They are pretty much parts company.
