In revune service for 'oldest' NYC train set. Easy. It was the R-9 on the current (C) line around 1987-88 just before they were retired.

 

 

of course i been to the NYC Transit Musuem and been on the R-1.

Really showing your age there :P

The oldest subway car I've been on was the R1 sitting in Brighton Beach during the 2004 century anniversary of the NYC Subway. I didn't ride it though, but that train ran between Kings Highway and Brighton Beach on the (Q)

On the Myrtle Ave El just before they closed the section south of Broadway. They were running wood cars with open sections at the ends very much like the WF cars, but unmodified. They would leak if it rained.(M)

 

On the IRT, Low-V's and 1939 World's Fair cars on the 3rd Ave El in the Bronx.

Oldest car I have ridden in NYC for any distance: IRT Lo-V

Oldest car I have ridden in non-museum/non-special event service in NYC: R-10

Oldest car I have operated: BU Elevated Gate Car (at BERA)
